Francesa has spent 3+ hours fighting with callers who are apoplectic over the Yankees losing last night...and questioning why Soriano (the 8th inning pitcher) was in there in the 8th inning...idiots

Dopey Heyman was on this afternoon saying he thinks Crawford's first preference was to sign with the Angels. He apparently doesn't know the RS and Angels offered the same money. Francesa apparently didn't know either because he made no effort to correct Heyman. Lack of media accountability is annoying.

Heyman was also extremely vocal in his condemnation of Manny. Heyman say Manny is far worse than Bonds, Clemens or McGuire (all of whom Heyman specifically mentioned) because Manny failed three tests while these guys never failed any. So apparently, it is being stupid enough to fail the test that make you a bad guy, not actually taking PEDs, let alone lying to Congress or committing perjury or any of that stuff. Yeah, that sounds about right...

Where did you read that info? Everything I read says that the angels offer was 108. And that he was surprised that the angels did not offer more. I agree with your opinion on the media, but in this case I think he was right.

Francesa talking about how the Red Sox (using their private weather service) cancelled tonight's game to get 2 days off and get their pitching in order...he has no problem with the tactic and says the Yanks have done it also in the past.

The Red Sox absolutlely did that yesterday. They didn't even bother with their usual charade of opening the park at 5 to grab some extra concessions money in the face of a certain rainout. If they did that last night, and the weather improved as the forecast called for, they would have been stuck playing a game they clearly didn't want to play. So they banged it nice and early.

That makes a lot of sense, but my first thought was that it was to preserve the sellout streak. I guess it could be both.

I caught some of the show today, which I hadn't done for a while. The callers today were dreadful. Dumb, incoherent, as bad as I've ever heard. I've never been impressed with the callers, but I thought today was especially hideous. Knicks and Rangers fans.

Mike: "Yankee fans can't wait to get Jeter out of the SS position. And now they are starting to want a SS they have thumbed their noses at, Reyes."

Francesa says the average middle class person lives in a 3,000-3,500 square foot house.

Edit: "50 million, maybe more, live in 3500 square feet houses in this country."
A quick google-

A recent article by US News and World Report shed some interesting light on just who really is "middle class' and who is not. If you have always wondered how you fit in, check out these statistics from the article:

Housing: The median home size for those in the middle class is 2,300 square feet

Where it rains. No, seriously.

Here it is. Amazing. "3500 square feet, to me, is a middle class house...most people in a normal middle class neighborhood live in a 3,000-3,500 square foot house...50 million people, maybe more. I think of 3,500 feet as a regular, normal house."

I love how, despite 3 other middle class guys telling him different, he insists that his opinion on the average middle-class house size is correct.

When told, point blank, by a guy in his own office that the guy lives in a 2800 ft2 house, he has the balls to add a level of unbelievable rudeness by saying "Oh, Ok. So yours is a little small."

Unfuckingreal. What a self-absorbed prick. If I was the guy in the office, I'd say "Yea, Mike, maybe you should pay me more, asshole, because there's no fucking way I can afford a 3500 foot house in Bergen County/Westchester."

He came on later with the housing stats referenced above (average home being approx. 2500 sq. ft.). Admitting that he was off by 1000 square feet (or 40-some percent), he waved it off, saying "so basically, one room".

I'm not self important, are you?

Jets coach Rex Ryan embarked on an extensive media campaign this week in support of his new book, Play Like You Mean It. But the effort didn’t include a visit with New York radio dean Mike Francesa of WFAN, and Francesa apparently wasn’t happy about that.

Via SportsGrid.com, Francesa pointed out that the book didn’t crack the top 100 on Amazon.com. “Go to the wrong places, you don’t get the right response,” Francesa said.

I just wanted to mention that that book is a flop,” Francesa said later in the show.
I would add that the book is not a flop merely because it has yet to crack the top 100, and that this snub naturally follows banging on the guy without respite. And I'm a rabid Pats fan.

So I was in the car for a few minutes today and Mike was interviewing some ex NBA guy who was addicted to oxycontin. I never got to hear who the guy was. Did anyone else hear this?
Who was it?

thanks. why was he on? Is he well known? I've never heard of him?
He played college ball at BC, got tossed, landed at Fresno State under Jerry Tarkanian. Second-round NBA pick of Denver back in 1999, eventually played a bit for the Celtics.

Chris and his brother Mike are local legends in Fall River, great athletes who battled substance abuse problems. Chris says he is clean now. The reason he's in the news is because Providence sports writer Bill Reynolds has written a book on Herren that is a followup for a book Reynold wrote about "Fall River Deams" or something of that sort back when Chris was in high school.

Got a kick outta' one of the callers around 5:45 PM that called to speak to Herron:

Kirk from Manorville says he was "part of the (addiction) club" and questioned why he would write a book if he wished to remain anonymous.

I'm sure there are "many" Kirks from Manorville - but perhaps none is more well-known than Radomski.

Not sure if it was definetly him - but it's interesting to guess / speculate nonetheless.

Anyone get the big guy's take on the Yankee drama? Yesterday would have been a perfect Mike and the Mad dog afternoon.

Francesa's take on Posada:

- Posada was dead wrong for refusing to play
- batting ninth in the AL is not a big deal, Bernie did it, Brosius did it
- Posada deserves a pass this one time
- Derek Jeter is very smart for covering his ass in the comments he made about Posada
- he thought Cashman giving the statement during the game Saturday was a bad move until he found out Yankee brass made him do it
- he feels Girardi should have called Jeter into the office when Posada told him he was refusing to play

Well, here's a surprise. The Sox beat the Yanks and Fatso is calling for the Yankee pitchers to start throwing at Red Sox hitters. "They're too comfortable!" Is it just me or does this happen every time the Sox win in the Bronx?

I'd be comfortable too if I was facing 86 MPH batting practice fastballs from Freddy Garcia. Even if he plunked a guy, it's not like that would back the Sox off the plate.

This is a routine complaint from the Pope. It seems to stem back to the fact that the Sox beaned Jeter et al frequently during the Torre years, and Torre never retaliated. This argument convieniently ignores the fact that the Yanks went inside on Papi last night, only to have Papi belt the next pitch into the seats.

I was tweeting with one of sportsbiz guys and evidently Francesca's numbers have actually gone up since Russon left, from 6.15 share to 6.4% share absed on average of last 8 books. Part of that is that ESPN/Kays numbers have declined a lot but still, I was surprised given the quality of the show has deteriorated so much

Has anyone pointed out to the fat man yet that Noesi did brush back Papi on Tuesday night? And that it happened right before Papi yanked one out of the park and then proceeded to implement the most despicably insulting bat flip in the history of flying cylindrical objects. Why exactly would they want to do that again?

That's the most hilarious part of this whole thing. Plus they used to cry all the time about Pedro brushing guys back and hitting people. The hypocrisy and stupidity is endless.
