He just said Theo against the biggest trade that got them their first championship. Which trade? The Beckett trade.
Yes, though at the time of the trade, it was widely reported that Theo was giving advisement to Hoyer and Cherrington, who were running the team in his absence.yea...francesa brings that up a lot...that Theo would not have made that trade...(was Theo on his little sabbatical when that trade went down?)
That Gammons drunk-dial to 'EEi is a classic.Yes, though at the time of the trade, it was widely reported that Theo was giving advisement to Hoyer and Cherrington, who were running the team in his absence.
I need to hear that.Mike just said that now that Manny's gone, Youks and Pedroia need to win because they haven't won anything yet. Does he pay any attention to baseball?
I was just coming here to rag on that opening song. Wow -- how silly does that sound? When did WFAN get Journey to write Francessa a theme song?
Fire Island has a Ferris wheel.......?days like this make me miss the old days...the back and forth would've been great...
I'm not so sure about that. I listened to both today and they really were on the same side.Today's show would have been positively glorious. Goddammit. :c070:
Tank and Doggy on a beach in Plandome where a carnival is in town?days like this make me miss the old days...the back and forth would've been great...
I LOVE Al Leiter. Whether he's ion the booth, behind the desk, or on the phone, he's ALWAYS a great listen.Great interview with Al Leiter today.
Dog is pissed because he wants to ride on the Cyclone, but Mike won't fit in the car.days like this make me miss the old days...the back and forth would've been great...
This is going to be great. And it's going to have legs.HOLY SHIT!
The Russo/Francesa beef is on. Man, Francesa just fired a shot.
Uhhh details?HOLY SHIT!
The Russo/Francesa beef is on. Man, Francesa just fired a shot.
Sounds like a very calculated high road to me. My translation, "Some people would call Dog a lying sack of shit and be justified in doing so. But I'm not going to do that...."Could be a very good show today...Francesa pissed....but seems to want to take the high road...
Dog was mostly responding to Howard's prodding. For example, they talked about the Super Bowl, where Mike allegedly refused to set up in Radio Row, but instead had people come to him. The result was that Dog got 56 interviews and Mike got 26.Mike said Russo was on Stern this morning, and he's been getting "deluged" with emails and phone calls asking him to comment on what Russo said. He said some of it was "nasty."
What the hell? Anyone know what Chris said on Stern?
Chris Russo was on with fellow Sirius Satellite Radio personality Howard Stern this morning, and said many interesting things.
Among them was that even if financially troubled Sirius XM gets new ownership that seeks to trim his $3 million-a-year salary, he will not leave for terrestrial radio - that includes, presumably, a potential return to WFAN.
Stern tried repeatedly to prod Russo into ripping his old partner Mike Francesa but mostly was unsuccessful, other than Russo agreeing that it was a mistake for Francesa to set up away from Radio Row during Super Bowl week.
I plan to transcribe much of the extremely long interview, but I do not know when I will get around to it, as I have to think of something relevant to write about Brett Favre that is related to my media/business jurisdiction.
Have a nice afternoon.
Maybe that's what set Mike off. Also, they talked about Parcells, and Mike's supposed great relationship with him. However, Dog got a SB interview with him and Mike didn't.
true enough but can't stay glued to this past 230pm, Mushnick has a goldmine here.Tease, tease, tease, and wait for more listeners.....
Baaah....Dog also said he would honor his contract with WFAN.Just now a caller asked Mike if he considered Dog a friend, Mike said he does- from his point of view at least. He was also asked if he considered Dog an enemy and Mike said no (also from his point of view). Finally, Mike was asked if he thought they would ever reunite and he said no, considering that Dog said this morning he would never go back to terrestrial radio. Mike seemed open to the concept but doubted it would ever happen.
Great stuff. Really great radio. And good for Tank...it is on...bring on the war.Talking about it now:
"I didnt even know Parcells was in town.. Me and Parcells have had a little bit of a falling out, if you will"
"I wasn't into the volume of guests.."
"My ratings have been better than ever.."
"Dog made it clear today that he's rooting against me."
"They will never get me... they will never beat my show while I'm alive sitting in this chair"
WOW
Last 3:00 are priceless:

1) There's nothing else on. ESPN is running Mike Tirico and Scott Van Pelt vs Francesa for the first hour, then Michael Kay. Actually Kay isn't bad, but it's just inexplicably stupid to not run a local show vs Francesa's first hour. By that time you're not changing the dial.It would seem that the numbers quoted during that self-fellating must be accurate, because people would surely be lining up to point out even the slightest inaccuracy after that performance. Assuming that is the case, why? I watched M&MD religiously from the time it first started airing on YES, and there were too many instances to list in which something happened in the sports world that had me anticipating the following day's M&MD (the 2004 ALCS does sort of stand out). I agree with those that say that Mike is a tough listen when solo. Leaving that out of the equation, what has driven the surge in ratings that Mike so eagerly talks about. Both the Mets and Yanks missed the playoffs; I know the Giants were beginning their title defense in September, and Brett Favre is Brett Favre, but I'm shocked that YES would have had their best ratings to date last fall. Also, M&MD were 5th last year, and Mike solo is 2nd? Confusing to say the least...
