Yes, though at the time of the trade, it was widely reported that Theo was giving advisement to Hoyer and Cherrington, who were running the team in his absence.

I was listening to Mike's interview with Rodney Harrison from Friday and he asked Rodney if he "was surprised to watch Brady blossom into what he was, were you surprised that he became what he is?"

Uh, Mike, Rodney got to New England AFTER the SB win against the Rams.

Mike just said that now that Manny's gone, Youks and Pedroia need to win because they haven't won anything yet. Does he pay any attention to baseball?

He just said that A*Rod had a chance to hit it out of the park today and swung and missed. Not too impressed with the "how could I tell Couric the truth when I was lying to myself" line.

Francessa said earlier that Jose Canseco should get into the Hall of Fame because of his "contribution to the game" throughout this whole steroid era. His passion about it even spread into arguments with callers, and went on to say that he was a better choice than Clemens, Bonds, and McGwire.

For my ten-minute commute home from school everyday, listening to gems like these from Mike always make it worth it.

days like this make me miss the old days...the back and forth would've been great...

Dog is pissed because he wants to ride on the Cyclone, but Mike won't fit in the car.

I actually miss going to Coney Island on the first warm day of spring every year, before it gets overrun with smelly kids.

Mike is feeling bad for Jetes now, 'it's not fair he spends hallf his life taliking about A-Rod, he's fed up why ca't he be fed up..I can't blame him..I'm not going to get on Jeter for this...can Jeter worry about himself and the tema for a change not who A-rod is dating, his steroids his HOF status. If you were Jeter wouldn't you want a break.

Now attacking Dog, he feels bad for Dog , it's not a good thing over there(Sirius)...they are having some serious problems over there, Mel, Stern and Dog. Feel bad for folks over there, some of the quotes were nasty and inaccurate 'I will get to them'. Francesca not happy.

Mike said Russo was on Stern this morning, and he's been getting "deluged" with emails and phone calls asking him to comment on what Russo said. He said some of it was "nasty."

What the hell? Anyone know what Chris said on Stern?

"I feel bad for Dog. Truly, I do."

"It could have been the other way where I left the station and then went to a company which fell apart. And that's what's happening, they're falling apart."

Dog was mostly responding to Howard's prodding. For example, they talked about the Super Bowl, where Mike allegedly refused to set up in Radio Row, but instead had people come to him. The result was that Dog got 56 interviews and Mike got 26.
Also, they talked about Parcells, and Mike's supposed great relationship with him. However, Dog got a SB interview with him and Mike didn't.

Neil Best has a short summary of the Stern interview. Doesn't sound that bad:
Chris Russo was on with fellow Sirius Satellite Radio personality Howard Stern this morning, and said many interesting things.

Among them was that even if financially troubled Sirius XM gets new ownership that seeks to trim his $3 million-a-year salary, he will not leave for terrestrial radio - that includes, presumably, a potential return to WFAN.

Stern tried repeatedly to prod Russo into ripping his old partner Mike Francesa but mostly was unsuccessful, other than Russo agreeing that it was a mistake for Francesa to set up away from Radio Row during Super Bowl week.

I plan to transcribe much of the extremely long interview, but I do not know when I will get around to it, as I have to think of something relevant to write about Brett Favre that is related to my media/business jurisdiction.

Have a nice afternoon.

Maybe that's what set Mike off.

'I am not in competition with Dog and I will get to his inaccuracies later as I said earleir. He said some things about ratings and such that are not true that I will address...' Mike just tell us already what's with teasing it?

Listening to Russo on Stern's replay now, and really, he seemed to go out of his way to not attack Francessa.

Howard brought up ratings, Chris said numerous times he didn't look for them and didn't know them...Howard's crew found that WFAN's ratings have slipped. The only thing Chris really said was that it was a mistake for Francessa to not go on radio row during the Superbowl, and even Chris said Parcells did his show mainly because he was plugging Gatorade.

Really entertaining interview though, Howard 100 replays this shit over and over again...Howard talks movies, family, etc... with Russo and it's fun to see 2 guys like that who are both kind of alpha w/r/t their shows bounce back and forth.

Who are these callers talking about how the show is "better than ever"? Mike whining about Russo is the most entertaining thing that's happened in weeks.

Just now a caller asked Mike if he considered Dog a friend, Mike said he does- from his point of view at least. He was also asked if he considered Dog an enemy and Mike said no (also from his point of view). Finally, Mike was asked if he thought they would ever reunite and he said no, considering that Dog said this morning he would never go back to terrestrial radio. Mike seemed open to the concept but doubted it would ever happen.

Baaah....Dog also said he would honor his contract with WFAN.

Things change.

Talking about it now:

"I didnt even know Parcells was in town.. Me and Parcells have had a little bit of a falling out, if you will"

"I wasn't into the volume of guests.."

"My ratings have been better than ever.."

"Dog made it clear today that he's rooting against me."

"They will never get me... they will never beat my show while I'm alive sitting in this chair"

WOW

Mike: Dog and I have only seen each other twice since the show ended. Monday at the SB was the 2nd time. Says he thought it was a comfortable meeting, invited Dog to open the show with him, Dog laughed and left and that was it. I've never considered Sirius a direct competitor of ours, doesn't consider it a competition. Denies throwing a fit that Parcells was on with Dog and not him, says he didn't even know Bill was in town and hasn't talked in 6 months. "Bill and I have had a little falling out" recently to be honest. As far as worrying about the guests on the SB didn't care, never thought about it, not in competition with Dog.

Mike on his own ratings: Finished 2nd in the fall by himself, finished 5th with Dog a year ago. In the winter book claims they're in first to this point. On the morning show, finished 1st over the year. On YES biggest fall ever. Just got double the money for the next 5 years, 6 years left on his contract. No ill will towards anyone, doesn't want to see Sirius go out of business, not a direct competitor. Doesn't have a problem with Dog rooting against him.

On ESPN radio- "THEY ARE NEVER CATCHING ME" as long as I'm sitting here, you can take that to the bank, hang that up in the ESPN offices and Sirius offices. Then called out Dog's relationship w/Raissman. "My show is doing great, my guys are doing great, if you're going after us, bring more than pea shooters. "WHILE I'M SITTING HERE YOU CAN BE DAMN SURE ITS NUMBER ONE."

He's fighting with his best buddy, Parcells? Mike is always feuding with people, but it's shocking that those two huge egos had a falling out.

Just kiss and make up with Russo, please. Once Sirius officially tanks, he'll need a home. I want the old show back.

It would seem that the numbers quoted during that self-fellating must be accurate, because people would surely be lining up to point out even the slightest inaccuracy after that performance. Assuming that is the case, why? I watched M&MD religiously from the time it first started airing on YES, and there were too many instances to list in which something happened in the sports world that had me anticipating the following day's M&MD (the 2004 ALCS does sort of stand out). I agree with those that say that Mike is a tough listen when solo. Leaving that out of the equation, what has driven the surge in ratings that Mike so eagerly talks about. Both the Mets and Yanks missed the playoffs; I know the Giants were beginning their title defense in September, and Brett Favre is Brett Favre, but I'm shocked that YES would have had their best ratings to date last fall. Also, M&MD were 5th last year, and Mike solo is 2nd? Confusing to say the least...

1) There's nothing else on. ESPN is running Mike Tirico and Scott Van Pelt vs Francesa for the first hour, then Michael Kay. Actually Kay isn't bad, but it's just inexplicably stupid to not run a local show vs Francesa's first hour. By that time you're not changing the dial.

2) Francesa still gets the same interviews he got with Dog.

3) Mike isn't really that bad. He has his moments (like analyzing a kid's scream yesterday that caused a caller to hang up), but I find him perfectly tolerable.

4) The football teams in NY had interesting autumns to say the least, the Yankees have just been a news machine all off-season with signings and controversy, and in this economy people who may alternate between news talk and sports talk may well be listening to more sports talk to avoid the negativity of people discussing a shitty economy.
