Did Jordan even need to touch it?  I think it was going to bounce in actually on it's own.

Not sure I agree with the choke label.  I mean, Griffin is the Clippers best scorer tonight so its no surprise the Spurs have adjusted to him.   Its not like he isn't trying to get it done.  The Spurs are just so very great at basketball.

That last play wasn't a choke, just a little excitement on my part.  But Blake was HORRENDOUS in the 4th quarter after as you said he was fantastic early on.  His FTA looked like Deandre Jordan.  He just seemed like he was moving too fast.  Fumbling balls, missing layups, botching tip-ins.  Never seemed comfortable.

And again I would argue that its because the Spurs are so well coached and so talented that they adjusted to what he was doing early.  Its what they do.    I don't think you can label any of these guys chokers.  The Spurs may win their second of back to back titles this season and nobody will be surprised.   They are so good that they can effectively force teams away from things that they are trying to do.

Reporter: "Do you think you got optimum efficiency out of the intentional fouling?"
Pop: "I think so"

If BB and Pop did a joint press conference, it might be the greatest thing in the history of sports press conferences or maybe even everything.

Pop hurting his team with hack a Jordan.  Don't like it.  He's begging to foul out his own guys.
Were you being facetious? The strategy resulted in a 15-6 advantage for the Spurs over the course of both halves and turned 3rd quarter deficit into a 4-point lead.

You're right, DeAndre Jordan should not be playing meaningful basketball.

Make your shots.
Ill do you one better, as a clipper fan, i would take the ball out of bounds and decline the free throw attempts. It's that boring. Shit, just turn the ball over back to spurs. Anything to avoid that time suck on my television

Exactly. It stopped the flow of the entire 3rd quarter and neutered the clipps. It worked brilliantly

I don't want the Clippers taking the ball out of bounds, because I want my players to actually hit free throws. I would rather punish players who are not good at basketball things than speed the game up. (I had it on in the background while I was working, it doesn't bother me.)

C-Webb had the first interesting comment of his broadcast career when he talked about increasing his FT% thirty percent in an offseason. It can be done, so do it.

I hate the argument against hack-a-shaq in the sense that the league needs to do something about it. FT shooting is a fundamental skill, and guys that can't do it are going to be exploited until they can prove they have that skill. It's the same reason Derrick Rose goes under every single screen against MCW, because he knows that MCW can't shoot, or the Warriors leaving Omer Asik wide-open on offense unless he is directly under the basket. Teams are always going to find ways to exploit the weaknesses of their opponents, and it isn't the league's responsibility to step in and help out players who can't do X well.

The league wouldn't be making a change because they feel sorry for DeAndre Jordan, they'd be doing it because they're in the entertainment business and many fans get turned off by the hack-a-whoever strategy. Of course, I agree that it would be an overreaction since it really isn't that prevalent.

100% agreement. At some point the NBA is going to realize that this is one of the most detrimental aspects to enjoying the end of an NBA game.

I really hope they don't change the rule, because I hate any rule that rewards you for being terrible (I think they will change it though.)
I mean the league would be more fun to watch if you didn't have to dribble (so I didn't have to watch Evan Turner and Avery do it).

At it's most basic I think they should go the other way... 1 and 1 motherfuckers. It would make terrible FT shooters so much of a detriment that teams would either have to spend the practice time to make them better or not play them.

Jeff green has been terrible in his series for a long, long time.
FTFY.  HRB compared Harrison Barnes to him when I proposed a David Lee/Barnes trade to the Celtics (which I still like).   Thing is Barnes is a much more efficient player while Green is a guy who feasts on the shitty games in  January and February.

In other news, Z-Bo is impossible to dislike.  His game and enthusiasm are simply awesome.

Sure they do.  Are the Spurs going to be ~ 50% from 3 again while the Clips are 1 for 14?  Doubt it.  Parker's on fumes.  Duncan's played heavy minutes.  I expect the Spurs to win tonight because of their depth, Pop and Kawhi, but I would not be remotely surprised if the Clips took it to 7 (and then gagged it away at home).

I think the Clippers have a shot too. The Spurs are still a well oiled machine but they have looked vulnerable at times during this series. And if Griffin lobs that ball to Jordan instead of trying to get the bucket himself, this is an entirely different conversation.

Hell, if Jordan doesn’t touch the ball...

They do that all the time. Shaq and Barkley do have a history.

Also...uh...this game? This game. Jesus christ, this game.

Clips tied at half despite a horrible shooting performance from Paul and 5 bench points. I thought Spurs were going to take control in the 2nd. Will be an interesting 2nd half.

Hack a Jordan slowed and killed the the pace.  Cooled the Spurs right off.

Ginobili has one good game a series in him -- he can't bring it anymore.  He's a liablity right now.

This series just comes down to shooting.  Both teams getting shots they want, tonight the Clippers are making more shots.

And that's a foul on Blake.  Hit him with the body and wasn't straight up.
