Every push MSU made was answered. A pretty solid effort by Mid Tenn here. Did not get rattled in a situation when teams usually get rattled.

Rip your brackets. Was MDST under-seeded?
Eh. They didn't win their league. They do have the leading 3 point shooter in the nation.

They won the CUSA tourney after refs called a touch foul with 2.9 seconds left in tie game against ODU and a dude that shoots 50% from line swished 2.

I don't know how big of an upset this is outside of the seeding. Usually these games are won when the underdog shoots a ridiculous percentage from the field and doesn't turn the ball over. MTST has matched Michigan State in athleticism and rebounding, points in the paint etc.

Some nice and simple good coaching there at the end from MTSU -- with the long pass and getting the ball in the hands of the best free throw shooter on the pass-back on the inbounds.

where I was last at
Well, my bracket has a lot of X's now, but my champ is still alive.
I had the Spartans losing to NC in the semis. I'm in two pools, the smaller one (10) 4 had them winning, and the other 6 either in the FF or losing in the Finals. the larger pool (about 60) I think about 50% had MS in the FF.
I had a pretty good first day, and still alive with Kansas winning it all.

It's interesting that Michigan State was not in the top 38 (which is what I could find on the NCAA's web site) in score defense. They held a lot of teams to low point totals, but looking back at it now, there is at least some indication that they might be prone to giving up a big score here or there. But 90 in regulation (even with free throws at the end) is staggering, and the thing about it is that Middle Tennessee seemed to be very consistent, staying on a pace where they scored about 8 or 9 points every 4 minute break. Michigan State also gave up 93 (in OT) to Oakland this year, and I wonder whether the Middle Tennessee coach saw something in that tape.

Edit: MSU won the Oakland game, obviously -- 99-93.

Wow, I wish the refs had the nuts to make the call there. Watch the replay of the tip in by the Iowa kid. As the ball was being shot, he fully extended his arms and pushed the Temple defender out of there, and he ended up with the room service put back. Sad way to end for Temple.

Just saw a good replay with that push off. You're absolutely right and there was nothing the Temple kid could do about it.

HRB: Did you have Texas going that far too?

Half drunk guy: (confused look wondering why I'm changing subject) Hell No, Texas stinks!!

Should've called a TO when he picked up his dribble in no man's land with no one to pass to.
