Wow that's a BIG TIME job! I'm guessing 5 years/$14m?Twitter abuzz that Oklahima State will hire Brad Underwood as soon as SFA is knocked out.
I know it's coming but goddamn I'll be sad. He deserves a big time job though so can't be mad one bit.
Totally agree on both counts. Most players become a different (better ) player their senior season. I just don't see it with him. Terrible shooter, and while pretty good defensively, makes a ton of stupid fouls. He will end up being least memorable 4 year player possibly ever. He won't play much next year hopefully.
His ball handling and decision making on D today were horrendous. Like freshman type mistakes. He literally cannot dribble.Totally agree on both counts. and with how Indiana has played the last minute probably get fouled plus a makeYou know Ulis is gonna pop a 3 on the last possession
Yeah, this shouldn't have been as interesting as it has been.Kentucky managing the end of game with a deficit really well.
Happened IU vs Duke 2002... but then JWill missed the FT and Boozer got fouled on the put back. #notbitterand with how Indiana has played the last minute probably get fouled plus a make
I'm sure UK fans don't really care. They've seen an insane amount of talent come through since Cal took over.It seems amazing to me that Cal has won one title since starting at Kentucky. And for the fans, is it good to go through this where every year you lose 4 kids to the pros and never really get to follow a kid through a typical college career. I guess there is a lot to be happy about if you are a UK fan, but it always seems so hollow from the outside
If you follow the team closely, I assume you're familiar with the supporting cast that plays four years (and presumably gets degrees -- someone has to keep UK in compliance with NCAA rules). It seems amazing to me that Cal has won one title since starting at Kentucky. And, yet, they have only won once. They really should have had a few. But it's tough to win the tourney.I'm sure UK fans don't really care. They've seen an insane amount of talent come through since Cal took over.
Yeah, that's the bottom line. National Championships are really hard. If you're making the final four on a regular basis, everything else is almost happenstance, and you're eventually going to win a few. Kentucky has made four in six years. But for two incredibly improbable UConn teams -- teams that put it all together at exactly the right time -- Cal would have three. Can't expect more I don't think. It's such a fine line. And, yet, they have only won once. They really should have had a few. But it's tough to win the tourney.
It is also pretty amazing to take a group of 18-19 year old freshman prima donnas, mix in a sophomore and maybe a junior......and turn them into one coherent college basketball team by March. It is one thing to "develop" talent and a completely different one in "harnessing" talent into a unit with one goal in mind despite everyone knowing that millions and millions dollars are at stake.Yeah, that's the bottom line. He is an amazing recruiter and always has the best players every season. He should be commended for bringing in the best talent, which he does.It is also pretty amazing to take a group of 18-19 year old freshman prima donnas, mix in a sophomore and maybe a junior......and turn them into one coherent college basketball team by March. Cal earns every dollar he makes as the games highest paid coach.
NCAA isn't the NBA though. You must develop a united team to advance in March otherwise you end up like Baylor every year. The job he did with the James Young team blew my mind from where they were in November. Final Fours are typically littered with overachieving seniors and not freshman in their first go around. He is an amazing recruiter and always has the best players every season.
