Nova as usual alternating between great and atrocious.

Ochefu getting blocked by the rim on a dunk was pretty funny. But he got revenge a few seconds later.

The first weekend tv schedule is kind of lame. Two exclusive games in 5 hours, where you have to sit through full extended halftimes and full breaks after both games, and then the other six games are grouped together in a way where when it works out like yesterday you get several good games coming down to the wire at the same time.

It is always this way and it's a very weird and lousy schedule. I can understand it more on Saturday, where nobody is watching TV during the day. But on Sunday to drag it out like this and then start 6 games within three hours of each other is a gift to the networks and a kick in the nuts for the fans.

If Iowa could have made a few shots this could have a similar feel to Duke Yale. But they haven't capitalized on Nova's sloppy play this half

Still hard to believe Rick Brunson was not only a McDonald's All-American,,,,,,but the MVP of the annual McDonald's game that featured guys like Glenn Robinson and Chris Webber.

Turner is all about having events in primetime even though there's no doubt they'd make more in ad sales today if there were four windows of two games each. Sucks for viewers but it's kind of a gift to CBS that they get to sell these first two windows exclusively and the NCAA isn't going to push back. It's surprising that it's been this way for a number of years and nobody who covers sports media has really called out how awkward it is at least as far as I have seen.

C'mon now. I agree that it sucks for the fans at home but are you implying that you have access to more accurate data than Turner executives do? If decisions were being made by these executives that were not maximizing their ROI then jobs would surely be in jeopardy.

Same data just different philosophies. They prioritize primetime rating over total day revenue. They're not necessarily wrong in that in the largest sense they may be better off having a better primetime story to tell than making a couple extra million today. Just a bummer for viewers.

Turner (and CBS) know how to play the ratings game. Sunday primetime is big business as HUT(people actually watching tv) levels are high. The Sopranos wasn't on Sunday by accident and Sunday Night Football is bigger for NBC than MNF could ever have been for ABC because more of us watch TV on Sunday than do so on Monday. The 9:40 tips are a bit late for us in the east, but I think it provides Turner with a Sunday primetime ratings pop out west.

Ahh, so this is what college basketball looks like when refs don't call every touch a foul whether it leads to advantage or not and let the 30 second clock do its work.

This site used to be the best place to game thread the first NCAA weekend. Those days, sadly, are over. It has been less than active. Oh well.

Notre Dame's shooting is off the charts. But they can't force turnovers and are average on the boards, keeping SFA in it. If SFA can force a couple more empty trips, they just might pull this one out.

Walk up had the game in his hands but tried to dribble out of trouble and got picked. Find a guard!

Edit: I guess he is really their main ballhandler

Wow, horrible call on ND's last possession to give them two free throws (I'm sorry, if I a defender jumps straight up and has his hands straight up and the guy drives and jumps straight into him, that is not a defensive foul, should have been a non-call) and then ND gets a miracle tip in at the buzzer to end the Lumberjacks. Tough way to lose. Walkup really fucked them on the last two possession as well. Pick up the damn loose ball.
