I know this is a non-Pats rumor thread, but this is good news for the Pats IMO - if (for instance) Lance falls to 10, and it looks like there could still be an elite CB available at 15, Dallas could be a perfect trade-up partner.
On the other hand Pitts going at #4 would send two QBs tumbling down the board.I know this is a non-Pats rumor thread, but this is good news for the Pats IMO - if (for instance) Lance falls to 10, and it looks like there could still be an elite CB available at 15, Dallas could be a perfect trade-up partner.
Yeah it turns out we don’t give a shit who other teams draft really, except to the extent it impacts the Pats. For starting a "non-Pats" thread that has since taken a Pats flavor.
It isn't that Wilson is better than the other QBs (many people don't think that) it's that the Jets have made no secret that he's their guy, since they have no reason to smoke screen, given he isn't going 1.It doesn't seem to me that anyone's considering the possibility that the Jets won't draft Wilson (and maybe even swap picks with the 49ers, with SF taking Wilson and the Jets taking one of the other three "top" QBs). It doesn't seem that Wilson is so far above the other three that the Jets not taking him isn't a possibility.
Another one? This guy better be great.Okay, that makes sense. But I still wouldn't discount the possibility that the 9ers might make the Jets an offer they can't refuse.
Agreed, but if the 9ers covet Wilson, trading for 3 and then trading it to Jets in a deal for 2 is the only way to guarantee that they get him (because I can't see the Jets moving down below 3 given that they also need a QB).Another one? This guy better be great.
Gettleman trades down!
It's not possible that a team might get their social media guys to post and then delete something like this intentionally, is there? (That would be second-level misdirection.)

As a relatively objective observer, I think that's the optimal situation for SF, for JG, and for Lance.I personally think Lance sitting for a year with jimmy starting is the optimal situation for SF.
But not for US ... and we're the only ones who matterAs a relatively objective observer, I think that's the optimal situation for SF, for JG, and for Lance.
Podcasts I heard have Shanny liking Jones and Personnel dept with LanceInteresting that both Schefter and Rappaport have come out now and said that the niners were all in on Jones with the trade up but after doing the diligence on Lance he's made such a strong showing that they haven't decided between the two.
I still think that Shanahan wants Jones, so that will be the pick, but I won't be completely surprised if it's Lance. I personally think Lance sitting for a year with jimmy starting is the optimal situation for SF.
If he's ranked ahead of anyone except *maybe* Jones, that's just dumb.
I kinda want them to pick him then for KidzBop Jim Mcmahon to suck while Darnold has a solid year in CAR.All I ask is that the Jets pick someone other than Zach Wilson just so I can see the meltdown on Jets' message boards...
He won't. You're good.If he's ranked ahead of anyone except *maybe* Jones, that's just dumb.
FAKE EDIT: And yes, someone should archive this post in case Trask goes on and has a wonderful career.

Why do the Steelers want a second Mason Rudolph? The one they already have isn't enough?
The last one was the best. Thank you for posting this.
Any excuse to post this... because a lot of teams never get that day...I always love that compilation (fullback....ohhhh noooooo) and watch it at this time of year like a holiday tradition, but it is sobering to think of how pre-Belichick/Brady (or maybe pre-Parcells) the Patriots were not that different. There but for the grace of the football gods....
"It's obvious to me right now that the Jets just don't understand what the draft is all about"...........The last one was the best. Thank you for posting this.

So many bad first round picks "back in the day". Kenneth Sims #1. Hart Lee Dykes at 16. Eugene Chung at 13. Chris Canty at 29. Ugh.No they were not.
Look no further than 1983, when with the 15th pick they choose Tony Eason with Dan Marino still on the board, 1984 when they took Irving Fryar with the #1 pick and the doozy, in 1985 when they traded down with the 49ers and took Trevor Matich.....................and the 49ers used the Patriots pick to take............Jerry Rice.
That trade more than any other exemplifies why I HATE it when the Patriots trade down; stick with the pick and take the best player available, or the player that fills a need.
Kenneth "Gameday" Sims..................same guy who leg whipped a player and broke his own leg in the process. So many bad first round picks "back in the day". Kenneth Sims #1. Hart Lee Dykes at 16. Eugene Chung at 13. Chris Canty at 29. Ugh.
Nice mock j-man! I agree with a lot of what you see happening.
In fairness if he'd had the misfortune to land on the '84 Patriots Dan Marino would likely have been a footnote in NFL history. And Irving Fryar miraculously got good the minute he escaped the franchise. So if he'd gone third to the Giants he might have ended his career as a Hall of Famer.Look no further than 1983, when with the 15th pick they choose Tony Eason with Dan Marino still on the board, 1984 when they took Irving Fryar with the #1 pick and the doozy, in 1985 when they traded down with the 49ers and took Trevor Matich.....................and the 49ers used the Patriots pick to take............Jerry Rice.
Those teams were balanced between run and pass, and when they did pass, they spread the ball evenly around to the WRs, TEs, and RBs.Irving Fryar was my 1st favorite football player when I was 6. Surprised to see he didn't put up better stats. I'll assume 1985 me realized it was Eason's fault, not Fryar's.
No TE that particular year (Lin Dawson leading TE receiver with 147 yards), but Collins/James were their 3rd & 4th leading receivers, & yeah, 1,900 rushing yards between the 2 of them. Those teams were balanced between run and pass, and when they did pass, they spread the ball evenly around to the WRs, TEs, and RBs.
