Wtf are they doing? If they're gonna run it all the goal line give it to Yeldon. But that also begs the question why the fuck are they running it all 3 downs there anyways. They have single coverage on Allen Robinson, who dominated on that drive, but they refuse to throw it.
Their inability to put it in the end zone there is shaping up to be critical, as we knew it would be. And I'd put that mostly on the coaching staff.

Titans have to punt now, right?

Gus Bradley either needs to run that 5 WR set (or 4 WR plus Yeldon) 40 times a game, or the Jags need to fire him and find a coach who will.

That's how you win with the talent they've assembled.

Am I the only one who thinks you kick the FG here?

Right decision. The Titans D-line is much better than the Jags O-line. Rather bet on the Jags D getting the stop than the offense getting a foot for the first down.

Wouldn't you decline the penalty there?

At a glance, it seems the NFLN games draw an audience about a third smaller than Monday Night Football, plus TNF has resulted in NFLN reaching a lot more homes than it otherwise would. If those results are disappointing to the NFL, they had unreasonable expectations.
I guess it kind of falls under the umbrella of "any publicity is good publicity". All I generally hear about TNF is that the quality of play stinks, the quality of teams stink, and now for the last two weeks, the uniforms are awful. But people ARE talking about TNF, I suppose.

On a semi-related note, it is interesting that SNF has replaced MNF as the game of the week (this shift began several years ago when NBC took over the SNF game). MNF really isn't a big deal anymore, the prime matchups are on SNF.

Because every team plays once on Thursday, the median TNF matchup is mediocre, with the occasional good matchup and the occasional clunker like last night. Most of us don't normally watch mediocre-or-worse matchups that don't involve our team; therefore, the quality of TNF seems crappy compared to what we're used to seeing. As far as I can tell, the only solution would be to repeal the rule requiring each team to play on Thursday once, and schedule a slate of games more on par with what we get on Mondays. I don't know if that rule was collectively bargained, or if it's something the competition committee could address.

The thing is, MNF's quality isn't that much higher than TNF (if at all), so I am not sure it is a result of the every team requirement. Compare the games week by week and I would rather watch the TNF game most weeks

MNF
1: Phi @ Atl, Min @ SF
2: NYJ @ Ind
3: KC @ GB
4: Det @Sea
5: Pitt @ SD

Wow, are the MNF matchups always that bad? I know they don't get the marquee games anymore (those have moved to SNF), and there's always a bad matchup or two late in the season that seemed like a good idea in July, but this year's slate looks especially bad.

Having Detroit, Baltimore, and San Diego on twice each is a big part of the problem -- that's six games where one of the two teams is awful (and four of those six are on the road).

In fairness Detroit and Baltimore were playoff teams and SD was a borderline playoff team last year. Some matchups turn out better than others. But overall the slates are pretty comparable and nothing special.

The problem as we've discussed is how few good teams there are this season.

TWENTY teams are below .500 today. Twenty! When 62.5% of the league is sorta crappy you're going to end up watching a lot of bad teams.

Edited the percentage. I was told there would be no math.

That Minnesota-Arizona game on TNF should be a lot of fun ... especially if the Vikings are decked out all in purple

So from strictly a what is best for the Patriots point of view, with the general goals of clinching early, creating easier paths to success and serving karmic justice, I believe this is how I'm planning to root today:

Rams over Ravens
Bears over Broncos
Raiders over Lions
Falcons over Colts
Cowboys over Dolphins
Redskins over Panthers
Texans over Jets
Eagles over Bucs
Vikes over Packers
Chiefs over Chargers
Cardinals over Bengals
49ers over Seahawks (lol)

The Redskins game is a tough call. On the one hand I'd prefer to see the Giants and (healthy) Cowboys out of the playoffs. On the other hand I don't mind the Panthers winning as I don't want the Packers, in spite of their recent troubles, to get the number one seed.

In truth, it may be hard to stay disciplined on these choices. I pretty much always find myself rooting for the Chargers against those other AFC West teams, for example. Also, I expect the Seahawks to inflict all sorts of pain on the 49ers and that could be fun to watch.
