Here's the rulebook on a facemask penalty:

No player shall grasp and control, twist, turn, push, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction.

Note: If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.

Bad call; wasn't a grasp (more like a graze) and to the extent it was, it was immediately released. Refs cost a team another game. Sigh.

The 5-yard facemask was done away with years ago, they're all 15 now.

That looked like all shoulder pad to me, but it wasn't the best angle. Either way, that Detroit defense on the hail mary was so fucking atrocious that they deserve it. Even before the ball got there you could see that the Packers guys were almost all in better position than Detroit's. Just abysmal.
