Since the NFL really hasn't been much in the news we all probably forget that there is really  a football game tonight. The tranquil Ravens hosting rival Steelers lead off this weeks slate of games on Thursday night on CBS or NFLN.

Viewing maps this week

Let's see how much those first week results really do matter!

Do people really think that guy didn't lead with his helmet? That seemed pretty obvious to me.

Ref was 5 feet away and Simms said it was pretty clearly a penalty.

You just can't lead with your helmet.

Unless you are an offensive player or if you are tackling someone carrying the ball as a runner.

Or at least that's how they call it

I dont know

I am just really confused

Just don't lead with your helmet while tackling the qb in the pocket I guess.

It's not confusing, it's the rule: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/08/06/nfl-officiating-video-stresses-new-crown-of-the-helmet-rule/

The first rule change prohibits a runner or tackler from initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet outside the tackle box,” the video’s narrator says. “There are three components to this foul: First, the player must line up his opponent. Second, he must lower his head. And third, he must deliver a forcible blow with the crown of his helmet to any part of his opponent’s body. The crown is the very top of the helmet.

I need to see it again, but it didn't look like the crown to me.

Well, that's a judgment call then. But it's not really that confusing as to why it was called--ref thought it was crown.

So, every time they say a Raven hit something hard tonight I'm going to cringe a little.

Who was the Pittsburgh player named Brown that went to the locker room with a head injury, Antonio or the other one?

Uggh.  It's Antonio.  I'm gonna start breaking shit. I have no fucking luck.  Same team I lost Lacy on last week. /endofftantasyrant.

I hear you on both of them. Antonio was tearing it up on the first drive too.

Polamalu is completely cooked, and has been for the past two years.  It's sad, because he was probably my favorite player to watch from 04-06 or so.

Here
I love how the Jets fan in that commercial is fantasizing about scoring a TD as a Patriot against the Jets.

Which made it even better when TB12 used his aggressiveness and completely pump faked him or looked him off and completed a long pass. Ahh the good ole days.

BigSoxFan, Especially on the short side of the field.  Looks to me like the steelers are trying to get Brown killed tonight.

Obviously still early in their careers, but Wheaton and Bell both look like keepers for the Steelers.
