Cue up the hue and cry:

How can the game be over? I thought both teams got a possession in OT?

I'm so glad we have Patriots fans to educate the rest of us about the finer points of the game. We'd all be lost without it.

Is anyone else planning to watch this dreck? Bears (2-5) at soon-to-be LA Chargers of Orange County (2-6).

This is one of those games that fantasy football and DFS was designed for. Suppose I'm rooting for a barnburner, 42-38 type game with lots of hilarious Cutler INTs mixed in for good measure.

I see more than my fair share of Chargers games here in So California. My initial Patriots hate for Rivers has mellowed out. He really is a pretty good quarterback on a series of bad teams. He's tough and always enthusiastic. He's entertaining to watch.
And he has eight kids ... all with the same woman

His throwing motion is really strange though. Can't say I've ever seen anything like it on another NFL QB. Works for him though.

I can't be the only one wishing we had Woodhead right about now.
Nope. That's why the NFL deadline is still too early. Make it until week 12 at least, so there's a clearer picture of sellers/buyers. Add in some rules about cap relief for traded players, or compensation picks.

Woodhead is in the middle of a 3-year, reasonable contract, only costing $3m for SD w/ $2m dead cap hit. Would have only cost Pats pro-rated $1.5m base salary and lower-round pick.

I think I read somewhere that J Kraft said this is something that will be discussed in the offseason.

Not smart Stevie, but that's a stupid flag.
Overly dramatic response to a single play in a meaningless game incoming......

It's a dumb penalty. Why is it a delay of game? The play clock runs no matter what. He's delaying his own offense from getting the ball sooner, so who gives a shit? This league polices the most innocuous crap. If a particular action doesn't grant an unfair advantage, doesn't harm anybody and doesn't show up the opponent, it's patently absurd to attach a penalty to it. A player spiking the ball because he was pissed at himself for being tripped up shouldn't be a penalty.
