Yeah, someone misread his tweet and said they would because they referenced Marks. Thanks.https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1141374801308725248
Bobby Marks who I trust on this stuff, says that they won't need to, and others also say that they both won't need to and don't plan to.
His contract makes him a tough addition. Not winning with or without him so why pay him 30 plus million a year? That's a great trade fro the Jazz, dang. I would have loved Conley in green.
Indiana has been a rumored suitor.D'angelo Russell loses another option with that trade. Any ideas where he ends up? Orlando?
Right. Rubio, Edoh, Sepholosha and probably Neto will be gone and UTA will be right at the cap (but can re-sign Favors).https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1141374801308725248

If you have Capela and Beal, you certainly don't have all of Tatum, Brown, Rozier, and Hayward. 2 or 3 of those players are gone.Ive been traveling and been hearing the news in dribs and drabs
While these happenings are clearly not ideal, what is the bottom line now with us insofar as money to spend? Barring renouncing everyone, what level FA can we afford right now? Assuming not the elite level, but can we stll get a very good piece?
I would have zero problem going to battle in the East with a lineup of Rozier, Tatum, Briown, Hayward, Capella, Beal, and IT. I still think thats a lineup that competes for #2 behind MIL if Kawhi leaves TOR and goes west.
Well, re Capella I thought I read in passing that he could be had for Smart and draft picks, but maybe I was drunk (that does seem light)...completely brained adn thought beal was a FA. I guess my team aint happening lolIf you have Capela and Beal, you certainly don't have all of Tatum, Brown, Rozier, and Hayward. 2 or 3 of those players are gone.
Olynyk is under contract for at least one more year in Miami, with a player option at $12M or so for 2020-21. He signed a four-year, 50M deal in 2017.https://twitter.com/Celtics_Junkies/status/1141152619374809088
Isaiah is a free agent
Avery is a free agent
Jae is a free agent
Jerebko is a free agent
Olynyk is a free agent
I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
Not sure Jae is, unless he's getting waived, but still....funny.
They also nabbed a $29MM TPE in the deal. They can eat a couple of bad contracts from teams looking to get cap space, which should net them at least two first round picks. Not a bad deal for Memphis as it gives them two picks in the double draft (presuming that they let the high school kids in in ‘22).
Yeah, it’s a great deal for them, and you can pretty much pencil in the Celtics for a top 10 pick in one of the next 2 drafts now. They also nabbed a $29MM TPE in the deal. Yeah, Milwaukee and Portland were likely on the phone as soon as they heard the newsThey also nabbed a $29MM TPE in the deal. They can eat a couple of bad contracts from teams looking to get cap space, which should net them at least two first round picks.
Portland would probably do backflips if they could flip Turner or Leonard/Harkless into that TPE for their first round pick.Yeah, Milwaukee and Portland were likely on the phone as soon as they heard the news
I don't think Portland will be nearly as desperate as the Bucks since their core players are already under contract and they don't have an additional player like Milwaukee while having to take on more salary. The Bucks OTOH will be going balls to the wall in finding a landing spot for the remaining two years of Tony Snell's 7-figure AAV deal. I don't think the Bucks have enough secondary assets to include to get that done (similar to the problem Portland would have with Turner or Leonard) but I'd fully expect Illyasova's $7m to come off the books by sending Cash, a low #1, and maybe a cheap young player (Donte, Sterling, Connaughton) to a team like Memphis so they can free up money to retain Middleton and Brogdon.Yeah, Milwaukee and Portland were likely on the phone as soon as they heard the news
Wouldn’t hurt if those salary dumps improved the on-court product too — the Grizzlies need to sell tickets in perhaps the NBA’s worst market, plus they want that pick to convey next season. They also nabbed a $29MM TPE in the deal. If Portland brings back Aminu they don't really have any mechanism to bring back Seth Curry, Rodney Hood or Enes Kanter. They don't have Bird Rights on those guys and would only have the taxpayer MLE at their disposal to round out the roster. They need to dump at least one of those bad deals to open the full MLE to make improvements.I don't think Portland will be nearly as desperate as the Bucks since their core players are already under contract and they don't have an additional player like Milwaukee while having to take on more salary. I don't have any reason to believe Curry or Hood would receive a deal greater than the taxpayer MLE. I’d hate to see Jaylen go. About the only deal I could get behind would be for Beal. Definitely wouldn’t want to see him go for a pick to get someone like Garland.Adam Himmelsbach of the Globe tweeted that he's heard that some teams at the top of the draft are wondering about the availability of Jaylen Brown.

Korver will likely be waived by Memphis. I think he ends up in LA without even having to use their room exception on him leaving them that $4.5m slot to add a veteran rotation player. So Korver to LAL, right?
He'll take the vet minimum to go to LA. He's made his money and is an LA native who grew up a huge Lakers fan.Korver will likely be waived by Memphis. I think he ends up in LA without even having to use their room exception on him leaving them that $4.5m slot to add a veteran rotation player.
In a 2, maybe 2.5 player draft, I don't know if there's a trade there. I don't think the Knicks want him in a deal for #3 (because RJ Barrett would be intriguing). And obviously, Memphis ain't dealing #2.Adam Himmelsbach of the Globe tweeted that he's heard that some teams at the top of the draft are wondering about the availability of Jaylen Brown.

I dunno. Jaylen Brown on his rookie deal and Jaylen Brown on his free market contract are two very different things, and his rookie deal has one year left.In a 2, maybe 2.5 player draft, I don't know if there's a trade there. I don't think the Knicks want him in a deal for #3 (because RJ Barrett would be intriguing). And obviously, Memphis ain't dealing #2.
Trading Jaylen for Holiday seems...suboptimal.In a 2, maybe 2.5 player draft, I don't know if there's a trade there. I don't think the Knicks want him in a deal for #3 (because RJ Barrett would be intriguing). And obviously, Memphis ain't dealing #2.
Now, the wording doesn't say those teams "near the top" would necessarily trade a pick. Would we want to engage NO regarding Holiday?
Could be other things involved---as the post above yours said, if we keep him we're likely signing him to a big contract. And I'm not sure we all think he's worth it.Trading Jaylen for Holiday seems...suboptimal.
If you're getting Holiday and #4 in a bigger deal involving Brown/Smart/Baynes, that's a deal I'd think about doing. You'd have his and Hayward's contract expiring in consecutive years so it keeps future flexibility. Gaining Holiday and, say, either Garland/Hunter/Culver would be something to think about. In a 2, maybe 2.5 player draft, I don't know if there's a trade there. The Pelicans are widely expected to trade the 4th pick, and I could see the Suns (6) or the Hawks (8) biting on a Jaylen + 14 package. In a 2, maybe 2.5 player draft, I don't know if there's a trade there. If you trade for Holiday, you guarantee you get the bigger contract. And he’s 29. Very unclear what you’d be trying to achieve here.Could be other things involved---as the post above yours said, if we keep him we're likely signing him to a big contract. And I'm not sure we all think he's worth it.
He may well be, and part of me is excited to see him and Tatum this year. But man, he's gonna get expensive.
That is really the fear. I keep hearing how Jaylen is going to turn into this amazing two way player, but I see a player that has been in the league for three years and could easily be as good as he is ever going to be. I am not saying that will be the case, but right now Ainge appears to be betting his job on Brown and Tatum developing. Is Brown the next Jeff Green? If so, deal him now.
Finding a PG? I don't know. I'd rather Holiday than Chris Paul.If you trade for Holiday, you guarantee you get the bigger contract. And he’s 29. Very unclear what you’d be trying to achieve here.
I don't think Ainge is betting his job on anyone. If this is Jaylen Brown's ceiling, he is still a very valuable player in today's NBA - he is a good three (if his '17-18 and second half of last season three point shooting is representative of his skill) and D wing. That is really the fear. I'll disagree slightly, the top 6-8 next year is really good. I think I'd rather have a high pick there than delay for a year. The Utah trade wont be official until July, and there will be a market for them next summer to take on contracts in exchange for firsts in '22 and '23.Wouldn’t hurt if those salary dumps improved the on-court product too — the Grizzlies need to sell tickets in perhaps the NBA’s worst market, plus they want that pick to convey next season.
Oklahoma City has increased its efforts this afternoon to shed salary along with the No. 21 pick en route to dodging luxury tax, league sources say. Steven Adams, Andre Roberson, Dennis Schroeder all very available at the moment.
If the Celtics can take 21 and package it with other picks to move up, take on Roberson. He's on an expiring deal.
Steven Adams was basically unplayable in the playoffs. I said at the end of the Blazers-Thunder that the Thunder would be looking to deal him in the offseason. I'd be extremely weary of taking on the remaining money on that deal.Adams might be a decent long term Horford replacement and sensible use of their new found cap space.
Brown could maybe get you the 4th pick in this draft. Brown and a package of others assets could get you in the conversation about Holiday. There is no chance you could get both.If you're getting Holiday and #4 in a bigger deal involving Brown/Smart/Baynes, that's a deal I'd think about doing. You'd have his and Hayward's contract expiring in consecutive years so it keeps future flexibility. Gaining Holiday and, say, either Garland/Hunter/Culver would be something to think about.
Is Boston worried about contending the next three years? I think the purpose he serves is stabilizing the regular season D for a couple of years as you ask for a couple of pick swaps down the road in addition to #21.Steven Adams was basically unplayable in the playoffs.
