Why did it become a thing to just have half a stripe instead of a stripe that goes all the way around on the sleeve? It always looks odd to me.

It looks much better on James White than the faceless model. The pants striping seems to have been corrected to match the shoulder stripes.
Funny I thought the exact opposite, it looks like shit and a generic uniform from a movie or Team USA as has been pointed out. I'm done with Nike and these shitty uniforms across the league. When jerseys stopped having sleeves

I really miss the departure of the unique number font. It looks like we have adopted generic block letters and numbers. I was fond of the Brady-era typeface, especially the old 2 numerals, they really stood out from the rest of the league.
If it helps, the timing - with regard to Brady, at least - is coincidental. They would have had to have proposed changes into the league long before he left for TB.I hate the mojo of dumping the uniforms they wore for 6 super bowl wins, immediately after Brady leaves and everyone is shoveling dirt on the team anyway.
Not for the Patriots it's not. Every uniform change = more $$$.All these new uniforms are mediocre at best. Same shit with the Jets last year. They’re not bad they’re just a waste of time.
There are additional differences. Take a look a White's old uniform below. The old numerals had much more pronounced serifs than the new numbers, especially on the two. Also for both the 2 and the 8, the horizontal strokes were much thicker than the vertical strokes. They appear to have the same weight on the new generic block font. The 2 numeral is exactly the same, except the new one has a little tail on the bottom left.
Imagine a white helmet. Would be an excellent look. They definitely need another set of pants.
The silver now feels out of place since it doesn’t show up anywhere else on the uni.
Or it would be the Bills, ish.Imagine a white helmet. Would be an excellent look.
From 10 to 12 AGAIN: Sweet that the team is honoring Brady (Michigan-to-Foxboro) one last time. The numbers are more of a block format and I believe they are 12" numbers on front and back instead of 10".
No, this was the Pats uniform circa 1985:When jerseys stopped having sleeves
I think I blocked out the Denver component. But yes, now I remember. They actually wore them in back to back games in 2002 - GB and Denver. Lost both. There's a story out there about BB being pissed at Milloy and others because priorities were out of order. I was at that GB game, it rained, we got killed, and it sucked.
And yesterday we saw the Patriots unveil a new uniform set with — get this — the wrong pants.
Although that wasn’t immediately apparent. Here’s how it played out: At 8am yesterday, just as I was publishing yesterday’s blog entry, the Pats revealed their new uni set (more photos here). As many people quickly noted, the home and road uniforms both appeared to be using the same pants from the team’s 2018-19 Color Rash set — navy with a wide white stripe, outlined in red.
But then, later in the day, several Pats players began posting Instagram photos of themselves in the new road uniform — and their pants didn’t match the ones shown in the unveiling photos.
That's definitely true. I LOVED the 1976 team. But it's also true that for the vast amount of their history, they were a garbage team. The hideousness of Dreith is underscored by the fact that he deprived them of their one truly legitimate chance to win a SB before Parcells, Kraft and BB showed up.Of all the reasons I'm still pissed about Ben Dreith and his b***shit roughing the passer call, one of the strongest is the nonsense idea that the Pats were a garbage team before Kraft and Belichick showed up. That 1976 squad was a legit Super Bowl contender, and the run up to Super Bowl XX nine years later was a hell of a lot of fun. Those seasons are what I think of when I see Pat Patriot and the red unis.
Parcells has to be pretty powerful for his dickishness to make winning the Super Bowl against the Bears harderI view Parcells and his dickishness around the Bears SB in much the same way.
Yeah, Nike's idea of style is basically what you see on any generic team playing in a movie set in the future.I don't see how this can be considered anything but a win when you stop and consider how ghastly many uniform changes have been since Nike got involved.
One thing that I really like about them is that there is nothing added to the jersey for no apparent reason. Consider the previous white jerseys has navy blue under the arms and down the side and the previous navy jerseys had red pipping under the arms and down the side to I guess serve the same purpose. At least these uniforms are clean, crisp and without waste or flair added for the sake of flair. Same with the numbers font. Nike has put out some staggeringly horrendous number fonts. A clean, crisp block number looks great.
Plus one to everyone saying that they need white pants and double plus one to everyone calling out how great a white helmet would have looked.
Funny that you mention movies, whenever I see shirts and pants in the same dark color, I always think of the "Mean Machine" uniforms from "The Longest Yard" film. It's not a great look to me.Yeah, Nike's idea of style is basically what you see on any generic team playing in a movie set in the future.
Ha! Good brain fart. Well he did have great dickishness powers!Parcells has to be pretty powerful for his dickishness to make winning the Super Bowl against the Bears harder
Am I missing something here or are you getting your horizontals and verticals mixed up?There are additional differences. Take a look a White's old uniform below. I wonder why they ditched the grey pants? The blue on blue as the only option at home is going to get old fast.Apparently they considered also including gray pants, but ditched the idea

Agree, blue pants every week in general will get old. With the design of those gray pants the striping matches the away jersey shoulder striping perfectly (i.e., red-blue-red) and ties in the gray nicely - white jersey / gray pant combo would look pretty nice IMO, and would help satisfy some of the Bledsoe-era 90s nostalgia as well.I wonder why they ditched the grey pants? Help me out a little here?Agree, blue pants every week in general will get old. Just referencing the white jerseys with the gray pants. I know some fans were hoping for alternates with the 90s jerseys.Help me out a little here?
Red on white looks good...the giant Pats on the shoulders, the alternating broad stripes on the voids, the font and the shadows...blech. The socks are good though and glad they going back to them.Still think those SBXXXI Bledsoe era unis were pretty sharp. Loved the red numbers on the white jersey look pictured above. I used to have a videotape of the last game of the 1996 season, the 23-22 comeback win over the Giants, which is one of my all-time favorite Pats wins---although it's been pushed down the list by a host of others in the years since.
