He's also had absolute garbage throwing to him, for the most part.Parker's a good WR. Not great. But good. Over the last 5 seasons per 17 games, he's 51 catches, 700 yards and 5 TDs per year.
Parker needs a guy that throws up the 50-50 ball. It isn’t a coincidence that the best year of his career came under Fitz. He's also had absolute garbage throwing to him, for the most part.
That’s a W for Miami.
Yup, 100%. I've had him in a fantasy league since his rookie year so I've watched him pretty closely.Parker needs a guy that throws up the 50-50 ball. It isn’t a coincidence that the best year of his career came under Fitz.
Not sure if that’s Mac’s cup of tea or not, but that’s where he truly shines.
Did you type this before seeing it was a third-rounder?The compensation is low enough to make it a good move, I guess.
I expect the third rounder will be the comp pick they expect for JCJ.That’s a W for Miami.
2023 third rounder with a 2022 fifth coming back is "whatever".Did you type this before seeing it was a third-rounder?
Pats get a 5th back, the third is a year out, and Parker is signed cheap next this year and next. What’s not to like?Did you type this before seeing it was a third-rounder?
But it’s in 2023, when the Pats will get comp picks again.Good #3 receiver. Hopefully he can regain that 2019 success.
Wonder if Harry's days are numbered, although Parker is slightly smaller and doesn't block as well. He's a much better receiver and YACer than Harry.
Edit: Ugggh, hate giving up a 3rd. That;s not a late rounder.
I'd rather just trade a 5th/6th and not get anything back.
Pats will still need picks in 2023. When you try and sign up for a 20 year run of success, you need picks every year. But it’s in 2023, when the Pats will get comp picks again.
Yes, this. Homerun deal for Trader Bill. But it’s in 2023, when the Pats will get comp picks again.
If you have a replacement, I guess. Certainly, given the contract, that’s a pretty easy decision for the Pats to make. Unless you’re over the cap or have depth, I don’t understand the move, especially given the go for it now trade just made for Hill. Unless he asked out. That’s a W for Miami.
If it's the JCJ comp I don't have problem. But I suspect that the Patriots own third-rounder in 2023 will be a much better pick than their usual draft slot2023 third rounder with a 2022 fifth coming back is "whatever".
Shit, tell BB.Pats will still need picks in 2023. When you try and sign up for a 20 year run of success, you need picks every year.
We get a solid receiver and draft capital THIS year in what is widely considered a deep draft. You discount the future pick by a round, typically, so this is Parker and a 5th for a 4th. You do that deal all day.I like that he has 2 years left on his deal
Yes, very obvious trade for the Pats. He’ll cost around 6 mil per year this year and next.We get a solid receiver and draft capital THIS year in what is widely considered a deep draft. You discount the future pick by a round, typically, so this is Parker and a 5th for a 4th. You do that deal all day.
So they trade it and draft late in round like they're comfortable with.If it's the JCJ comp I don't have problem. But I suspect that the Patriots own third-rounder in 2023 will be a much better pick than their usual draft slot
Cedric Wilson is replacing Parker. He was not only Miami’s WR4, he was also no longer a scheme fit.If you have a replacement, I guess. Certainly, given the contract, that’s a pretty easy decision for the Pats to make. Unless you’re over the cap or have depth, I don’t understand the move, especially given the go for it now trade just made for Adams. Unless he asked out.
The JCJ comp pick doesn’t exist yet, so definitely not that one. Still, see my above post. Unless you think the Pats are awful this year, it’s giving up the equivalent of about an early 6th rounder. If it's the JCJ comp I don't have problem. But I suspect that the Patriots own third-rounder in 2023 will be a much better pick than their usual draft slot
I'm anticipating what we would call an "awful" year for the Patriots, so that third rounder would have more value. The JCJ comp pick doesn’t exist yet, so definitely not that one. Still, see my above post. Unless you think the Pats are awful this year, it’s giving up the equivalent of about a 5th rounder.
Needless to say, this post proves this is a great move for the Pats. That’s a W for Miami.
Parker's career YAC (3.7) is higher than Waddle's was last year (3.5).Cedric Wilson is replacing Parker. He was not only Miami’s WR4, he was also no longer a scheme fit.
Miami’s offense is going to be built around YAC, and the next yard after catch Parker gains will be his first.
This is how I feel. It's not an overpay, given the terms of the deal. The 3rd rounder in 2023 is akin to a 4th this year. Parker is a good fit in this offense and cost-controlled.Pats get a 5th back, the third is a year out, and Parker is signed cheap next this year and next. What’s not to like?
What’s Parker’s with Odell if they (as rumors suggest) want to go that way? I would think that definitely would make Agholor redundant.View: https://twitter.com/johnalimberakis/status/1510309137074343937?s=21&t=6kaXyZm48fAU3QkcsSXecw
This was my reaction to it. Parker is a much better fit as an X than Agholor for this offense. However having both those guys let’s you unlock some route combinations because you have two vertical guys. Remember that double post (Dino) concept they ran week 2 against the Jets where Bourne beat his man initially but the corner was able to recover in time to defend the pass? That doesn’t happen with Parker - just need to make sure you don’t under throw it.
If they wanted to trade Agholor I think the Bucs and the Chiefs would be interested.
Trading him to a division rival should tell you just about everything,
When has it ever worked out for the Pats to trade for a Dolphin WR?
Does it matter? Miami is a tire fire. They have played in 2 playoff games in the last 20 years. They lost both. Yes, you read that right, this team hasn't won a playoff game since the 2020 calendar year. The Patriots have won 6 super bowls since then. Nobody is worse, except for the Detroit Lions. They are the least successful team other than the Lions in the NFL.And Miami will have 2 firsts, a second, and two thirds next year now. Unreal how much draft capital they have even after the Tyreke trade. Thanks a lot, SF and HOU…

Parker is great. He's not some flash in the pan like Aghlahor. He's not a bust like Harry. He's got great hands and can win contested catches. He's legitimately talented. He's also been stuck on an awful team for years. This is a win for the Pats.I like the deal — I think it is pretty fair value for both teams. Parker on a cheap 2-year deal is a good get for the Pats and getting a future 3rd and only giving up a 5th is a nice get for Miami.
I have always liked his game — but have always felt like he was injury prone (looks like he has only missed 20 games in 7 seasons). Hopefully the QBs throwing to him have impacted his lack of a “leap”. Either way, he is definitely an upgrade for this WR corps and some really good added depth on the outside and in the red zone. I would think they plan to hang on to Agholor, have Bourne/Meyers be their inside guys, move Agholor around a bit, and have Parker be the pure outside threat — but others here would know better than I.
The Cowboys have a couple of playoff wins in that span. The Cowboys suck too. They are failures. But Miami is a legitimate joke. They don't make the playoffs. If they randomly do, they lose. They pass up Justin Herbert and draft a terrible Tua instead. The owner offers the coach money for losses.coughcoughcowboyscough
