Hold on, this is not a reasonable assessment. To imply politics is not an accurate statement; Roseman did deal Alonso, Maxwell and Bradford....because moving them was 110 percent the right move. Chip was a horrible GM. Roseman has hung on to Huff, Matthews and Johnson who were purebred Chip guys. He Went to the ends of the earth (per the media) to convince Thurmond to stay, and he was a Chip guy.
The guy you linked to, while he had some nice analysis, definitely had on his fan goggles, which is what you would expect from an Eagles site. Even in the film, He got torched by Pierre Garçon, who is 376 years old.
Roseman is certainly powerful right now, but Schwartz has a lot of credibility as well. I don't know Jim Schwartz on a personal level, but his style seems to indicate a zero bullshit approach. if he felt that Rowe could be a starting CB in the near future I doubt he would have let him leave. We play in a division where our competition all have strong WR1 and pretty darned good WR2.
Rowe was a good kid, had some good potential and may end up being good. But let's not clutch pearls here.
I think he got good return from them for the most part. Though I never had a huge issue with Maxwell, Alonso was cheap and almost worthless. Rowe was a second round pick they dumped without a glaring better player on roster for a 4th (deferred so a fifth really). Bradford was a great move.
But let's be clear here, Kelly has been gone one offseason, not one game has been played in anger and there are 5 players Kelly acquired left on the roster.
Agholor (who is on the edge)
Hicks - starter (but Tullock brought in behind note) and the exception
Ryan Matthews- for one more year
Sturgis who came in as a injury desperation move and Parkey was awful in camp
Means, who might be the last guy on the roster right now.
Next year? Pretty good argument there will be one left. Hicks.
Kelly tried to purge Roseman's roster the year before. This kind of upheaval is destructive, imo.
Kelly got rid of: Fletcher, Casey, Allen, Polk, MAtthews, Smith, Mccoy, Mathis, Maclin, Jackson, Herremans, Foles and Trent Cole.
Vast majority of them by the way good moves. Jackson and Mathis clearly not so much, esp for nothing. McCoy I never minded but hated the Murray move which more than offset it. You can argue about if they should have paid up for Maclin, but since the tampering case maybe didn't matter.
Roseman has traded Maxwell, Murray, Bradford, Rowe, Alonso and Kelly. Has cut Parkey, Hart, Shepherd, Copper, Ryans, Evans, Gardner, Rice.
As far as I'm concerned Rowe wasn't given much of a shot. He was never given a shot at running with the frist team all campo, Ron freakin' Brooks was preferred. Sorry that's nonsense.
There's one kelly guy the team likes, Hicks and one they hope can turn it round, Agholor. That's it.
edit:
And if you don't think it says something that they agreed a deal and now are agreeing the deal without the player coming the other way I don't know what to say. There is no urgency to move Rowe, esp for a year deferred 4th. The whole thing stinks
