Now get me a QB in round one and I will be happy.Top shelf TE? Check.
Top shelf edge rusher? Check.
Top shelf run stuffing DT? Check.
OL help? Check.
Improved draft position? Check.
Good lord Bill.
We make fun of the Jets for everything. This is no doubt fun, but don't we always make fun of the Jets for getting excited over winning FA?
The naysayers will say that this is so out of character for BB, it shows how badly he mismanaged things the past two years, and this reeks of desperation. This is no doubt fin, but don't we always make fun of the Jets for getting excited over winning FA?
Trade up for Trey Lance. That’s the answer there. Now get me a QB in round one and I will be happy.
I am just glad we finally got rid of that penny-pinching Nick Caserio! He has been holding Belicick back for years!Top shelf TE? Check.

It is almost like Bill knew last year was a bridge year and their cap situation would be a big advantage in 2021. Almost.Bill didn't love seeing Brady just go to TB and win a super bowl. He's back in the game.
A motivated Bill is a winning Bill. Today is cool, it is much better than March last year.
Samuel or Golladay and I go jump in the pacific ocean amidst this mini-hurricane we are having.Shefty on ESPN said that Bill is not done yet.
It just really sucks that nobody wants to come to NE...Shefty on ESPN said that Bill is not done yet.
EDIT: Jalen Mills
Samuel or golladay and I’ll drive the 7 hours from Arizona to the pacific to join youSamuel or Golladay and I go jump in the pacific ocean amidst this mini-hurricane we are having.
Yes pleaseTrade up for Trey Lance. That’s the answer there.
I think the Pats had a pretty solid season considering the Brady situation and the opt outs. They were a handful of plays away from a 10 win season. And they played with a QB who could run quite well but didn't seem too adroit at completing forward passes. It is almost like Bill knew last year was a bridge year and their cap situation would be a big advantage in 2021. Almost.
Correcting for past mistakes (rather than stubbornly repeating the same thing over and over again) is one of Belichick's greatest strengths. The naysayers would be both right and wrong. The naysayers will say that this is so out of character for BB, it shows how badly he mismanaged things the past two years, and this reeks of desperation.
Which might actually be somewhat true.
But they have the cap space and have talent needs at these positions. So it’s kind of a perfect storm of need + opportunity + availability.
Maybe Tom would come back now?It just really sucks that nobody wants to come to NE...
Well that was never the argument actually. It was that nobody would take *less* to come to New England. Trent Brown did, but that wasn't a FA acquisition (though he did take less money, perhaps, to be here). But none of these FAs are turning down bigger contract offers elsewhere to play with NE. The Pats are getting lots of good players....at pretty high prices. We all always knew that players would come here if they're getting PAID.It just really sucks that nobody wants to come to NE...
But again, name a single premier free agent that took a discount to come to NE in the Brady era.Well that was never the argument actually. It was that nobody would take *less* to come to New England. Rodney Harrison though he was a cap casualty by San Diego. I think he took less to sign with New England. But again, name a single premier free agent that took a discount to come to NE in the Brady era.
Was he even wanted? Also that was 18 years ago. Brady wasn’t Brady then. The Pats had only one title. Hard to count that.Rodney Harrison though he was a cap casualty by San Diego. I think he took less to sign with New England.
Yeah, and BB was the selling point back then, not Brady. There was a recent article about BB's recruiting.Wasn't Rodney in the Raiders building when he got a call from BB telling himont to sign?
Yup. The cap space is there because the roster had no talent, but now Bill is aggressively injecting talent into the roster. Which is great and shows he was as aware of the team's deficiencies as anyone else. Not much to complain about today!Correcting for past mistakes (rather than stubbornly repeating the same thing over and over again) is one of Belichick's greatest strengths. I think that's right. There was also a great story. IIRC, of Bill and Pioli taking to him to greasy spoon on route 1 for lunch, both decked out in their sweats. That was the extent of the wine and dine effort.Wasn't Rodney in the Raiders building when he got a call from BB telling himont to sign?
Ground Round.I think that's right. There was also a great story. IIRC, of Bill and Pioli taking to him to greasy spoon on route 1 for lunch, both decked out in their sweats. That was the extent of the wine and dine effort.
I'm not advancing the argument. I'm just clarifying what people who WERE advancing the argument were saying. But again, name a single premier free agent that took a discount to come to NE in the Brady era.
Fair. It was a mythical argument.I'm not advancing the argument. I'm just clarifying what people who WERE advancing the argument were saying.
Plenty, the most obvious recent one is Za'darius Smith who they let leave for GB and has 26 sacks over the past 2 seasons and has a case as a top 5 defensive player in the league.I have to say this one makes me a little nervous--not sure how many times the Ravens have let a guy leave and ultimately regretted it.
That's right. Might have been in one of Holley's books.Ground Round.
Definitely in a video - America’s Game maybeThat's right. Might have been in one of Holley's books.
