The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the "Patriots are talking with the Washington Redskins about holding a series of joint practices in Richmond before the teams play a preseason game on Thursday, Aug. 7." The deal isn't finalized, but the Pats would probably be in Richmond August 4th and 5th.

Road trip anyone in the DC/MD/VA area?

I live in Richmond, so I pretty much crapped myself when I heard about this news. Last year's camp in Richmond was all asses and elbows (it was Year 1 of camp in Richmond), and I expect Year 2 will be as crowded. If anyone does decide to head down for it, get there early.

I'm not too far away and I'd probably also make a road trip up there.

They made this official yesterday afternoon: "The New England Patriots announced today that they will conduct joint training camp practices with the Washington Redskins at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond, Va., from Monday, Aug. 4 through Wednesday, Aug. 6. The practices will lead into the team's 2014 preseason debut on Thursday, Aug. 7 at FedEx Field. The times and details for each session will be announced at a later date. All of the practice sessions will be free and open to the public."

Have fun! And be prepared to be charged for everything but the air you breathe. It is a Redskins production.

For those of you who were interested in attending these scrimmages, the Redskins won't allow you to just show up (since they're worried too many people will do just that and overwhelm their capacity constraints. This happened a couple of times last year). You'll need to register for free tickets and hope for the best. Here's the link to register:
