Irsay sucks, but there will be extremely low expectations, plus an OC taking over a team with a franchise QB (if healthy) in Luck and #1 WR in Hilton could do a lot worse. Plus, if Luck isn't ready to go, who better to coach Jacoby than the guy who schemed for him last year?Even if Luck was 100% I would never want to report to Irsay. That org has been a mess for years. Bad choice if true.
If Luck is healthy, McDaniels drafts a rookie QB to mold, deals us Luck to take over for Brady. It all comes down to Luck’s health. If he is healthy, the Colts pretty instantly return to a playoff team under McDaniels. If he isn’t healthy, it’s a place to go and win 6-7 games a year and deal with a douchbag owner.
I dunno if this is necessarily true - Titans probably take a step back if the Colts improve, but the Jags are an AFC finalist and I don't see anything on the horizon suggesting their team will take a significant backwards step next year. And there are enough mediocre-to-good teams in the AFC depending on the year that even with a healthy Luck you can't just pencil in the Colts as a wild card team.t all comes down to Luck’s health. Do they? The Colts are in the division with a team with a loaded defense that is in the AFCCG and has a real shot to make the SB, another team that made the Divisional Round of the playoffs and has a good young QB, and a team that has the best young QB in the AFC if not the league (some may prefer Wentz to Watson).I dunno if this is necessarily true - Titans probably take a step back if the Colts improve, but the Jags are an AFC finalist and I don't see anything on the horizon suggesting their team will take a significant backwards step next year. All that said, if McD's three options were Indy, Tennessee, and the Giants, the Colts with a healthy Luck probably do present the easiest short-term path to the playoffs.
Didn't we have some kind of rule about polluting this board with Doyel's filth? I thought we all agreed to pretend he never existed. You will never guess who hates the hire
HE IS going to LOVE the press in Indy.
Daboll is from the Buffalo area which, I assume played a role in taking the OC job there.I would have preferred that Josh ended up out of conference. But good for him. Josh leaving seemed inevitable given the success of the offense. If Josh does go, I guess I'm a little surprised that Daboll didn't ultimately end up in his job. There are undoubtedly many explanations but in the end, that seemed like such a natural.
