They'll open in prime time on the east coast, then it's a two-day break between Games 2 & 3. For Game 4, it depends on whether the Bruins get another matinee. If so, Ducks-Kings will be in prime time again. Otherwise it's probably a 7pm/10pm doubleheader on NBCSN. Games 5 & 6 would seem to line up as 10 pm NBCSN starts. But if each winds up being the only NHL game of the night (with BOS-MON having already ended), the network might drop the puck at 9 pm for bi-coastal exposure. A Game 7 would be on its own regardless, and I suspect that's what they'd do.

It's hard to imagine either team losing. Kings must feel invincible after the comeback, but Ducks just seem like team if destiny to me, so I'm picking them. I'm really looking forward to watching this series, the level of play should be outstanding.

Anaheim is pulling a Boston here. Completely dominating, but not finishing.

Holy shit, the puck popped over Quick and onto the top of the net.

I just put more trust in Quick than Hiller in this game. That is also why I picked them for the series. This series and Boston V Montreal will be great theater..

I have to admit though. I am only watching this game because the Bruins won. If not, I'd be watching the last Americans on my DVR.

These playoffs are ruining me. You just know that next year when things are more "normal" and "boring" they're going to suck.

Jon Quick renewed his rig license after game 3 v. San Jose. Holy hell he's been great, LA take game 2 on a 36 save performance by Quick.

The Anaheim crowd sounds like Camden Yards when the Sox are in town.
It's most likely 45%+ kings fans. It's like an hour or so drive from where the kings play. So it's not really an "away game"

I was thinking about starting a thread on this topic, but figured I'd put it here first. Now that we're firmly into the 2nd round, how do people view the eastern versus the western conference? Watching Kings-Ducks last night after Pens-Rags, it seems like the western conference games are faster and more physical. I've watched as many playoff games as I can, but I'm more focused when the B's play and the B's style is probably clouding my judgment a bit because of how defensive and conservative they usually play and how that generally affects the up-and-down nature of modern hockey. My personal impression is that in both conferences, there are 3 very good-great teams (Chi, LA, Ana, Bos, Pitt, Montreal) and that the Wild and Rags would be fortunate to advance. But, at the risk of jinx, I'd say Chi, LA, and Ana would tear through Pitt and Montreal whereas the B's would have a chance. Anyways, I don't want to belabor the point, but what say you denizens of RMPS?

The playoffs are generally the only time I get to watch Western Conference teams matchup and I agree that the style of play is a lot more physical. I'm not sure about faster. There does seem to be a lot more bodies flying in general and at times it looks reckless.

The announcers never stop ballwashing Drew Doughty and Ryan Getzlaf. In Getzlaf's case - I see it - Doughty is a good defensemen, but the announcers consistently mention he is LA's best player. From my point of view, Kopitar has that claim.

As an aside, the Kings look unbeatable right now. If things continue, LA vs Chicago will be one hell of a matchup.

Zo, I basically feel exactly the same way as you, except (at the risk of sounding homer-ish) I think the Bruins are overall well above the Penguins and Canadiens in terms of overall ability, depth, and coaching.  The problem is, the speed of both Pittsburgh and Montreal (and teams like them...Toronto, etc.) is something that always seems to give the B's some problems so the road to the Finals is certainly not easy.

Watching the non-Bruins first round matchups and Rags-Pens, and then watching the Western teams is like night and day.  I can't exactly put a finger on why, exactly, but I enjoy watching the Western Conference teams more.  IMO, they hit harder, but are cleaner. There aren't nearly as many shenanigans (not saying they don't exist, it just seems like there is less).  Even with Brave Steve involved, the StL vs Chicago series was basically everything I want out of a hockey matchup.  It's not just the playoffs, either.  I've honestly felt this way all year long... the Western Conference, even though they are all in the NHL, is just more enjoyable to watch right now.

I'm sure others will disagree with me, however.

The West is much better than the East in my opinion. If you moved St. Louis or San Jose to the East, I would have put either one in the ECF. The 2-3 matchups out there were absolutely loaded.

If LA ties this up, it's divine intervention and Perry will probably murder someone. Has the empty netter set up, and his stick breaks.

What a goal by Richards. Unbelievable.

Captain Cannon's been good all night, good for him getting one even if it's probably too late to matter.

Insane hand-eye coordination.  It came 15 seconds after Perry missed an empty net due to a broken stick.

You can't play it safe there. You need to get the puck in the offensive zone as fast as possible, the sixth guy has to be on the ice from the faceoff.

Yea, there were 30 seconds left. If you lose the draw you're pretty much dead anyway.
