Well, I guess he has been mashing at Pawtucket... I'm guessing that this definitely means WMB won't be ready to go on the 20th. Might as well let him get a few ABs at AAA to shake the rust off, and this clears a spot for him to play there. Makes sense.MakMan44 said:Brock Holt
Brian MacPherson @brianmacp 1m
Roberts' deal was non-guaranteed, so the Red Sox will have paid him about $61,000 for his 11 days on the team.

He may be a hard guy to find when it's time to hand out 2014 World Series rings.MentalDisabldLst said:Ryan, we hardly knew ye. But I saw you make a couple nice plays at 3rd. You got two hits, which is two more than I would have gotten. Your B-Ref page says your nickname is "Tatman". And your destiny may be to become known as the Adam Hyzdu of 2014. But still, most of us would trade places with you.

benhogan said:so how does it work as far as Roberts is concerned? if no one claims him, can we assign him to AAA? would the Sox then be on the hook for $1MM?

Herrera bunted in a meaningless insurance run. What did Roberts do? Sport tats that would render him unemployable in the real world.Cowboys Idiots N Beards said:I'd rather lose Herrera, he hasn't been all that great, but whatever works.
Take a look at who got rings for 2013.Reggie's Racquet said:I hope at the end of the year the team votes him a ring.
Roberts not Melendez.

So much for all my "dick move" soapbox blathering. I'm slumping badly this month when it comes to reading the tea leaves at Yawkey Way.

Anyone who complains about Don and Jerry should be forced to watch a MASN broadcast of either the O's or Nats. Insufferable.JCizzle said:And fuck you masn trying to be NESN with your bricks.

Is there a corollary in the Bronx to the no beards rule? Will Roberts have to go through a Yankee-approved sand-blasting before they let him play a game? Body-stocking?Tyrone Biggums said:
Would not be shocked to see him in the Bronx.
We play the Yankees on Tuesday. Wouldn't be surprised to see some gamesmanship to have the Yankees sign him for no other reason than to make the Red Sox change some signals for the series...Tyrone Biggums said:
Rays are 20x worse. DeWayne Statts makes Tommy Heinson look impartial. Hawk Harrelson is close too. But yeah those broadcasts are pretty bad. Tatman is probably going to end up staying in the division. The Yankees seem to love signing our cast offs for the last decade or so. Would not be shocked to see him in the Bronx.

They won't be signing him for that series. It'll be at least a week and up to 10 days before Roberts clears waivers or a claim is announced, and if he does clear then the Sox would still have to release him from his contract.
The Mort Report said:In accepting his assignment to AAA he still gets his million dollars if he remains with the team all season, right? That kinda seems like a no brainer for a guy that shouldn't have gotten a million dollars in the first place.
Red(s)HawksFan said:
It was a non-guaranteed deal, so he gets minor league paychecks while he's there, not what the big league contract promised. There's no million dollars for him.

Then is it the league minimum if he gets called back up?
