Good result. Sings of real progress. And, you can see where Celtic struggle, when the big teams come at them, move the ball aboiut with pace and quality and movement. Thye never or hardly ever get to react to that week in week out domestically.
It reminds of of when Navratilove was commentating on a talented Juinor in her first Wimbldeon match in the main draw. She talked about what it's like to always get the ball a fraction of a second earlier, every shot, to always have less time to think, and that's the difference when you step up.
feels like that with Celtic. They can give the ball away in the SPL, the can fumble chances, they can be less than optimal often when they have the ball in attack, cos they don't get put under much pressure. And, they have a freedome to express themselves knowing that is the case.
But, this is a decent Celtic team. It really is. Of course with an extra 10M they could get a couple of more players to up the quality, but they don't have that money at the moment (or if they do, it's not considered worth the spend.) I didn't think it would be good for Celtic to come 3rd and get the Europa League, but now i see it differently. It would be great to get more European matches. This team needs to play against better oppostion to improve, to get used to having less time to think, to work with a smaller margin of error. We all know...it's really hard to make such a step up, from Hamilton, say to Barca...
And so i repeat myself once again. Scottish football needs a cash injection to become more competitive. Celtic can't progress if they keep recycling the squad every few years. Dembele will have turned heads already. Celtic will struggle to keep him, and so it goes.
