I’m no Don Draper when it comes to marketing and advertising, but I’ve got a ground breaking idea that would solve the Mets problems.

WIN FUCKING BASEBALL GAMES

Braves-Phils and Yanks-BJ’s series. Just exciting baseball.
I think the Mariners knocked out the A’s last night.
Hoping for the Jays to fight for their lives
Agreed, and I hope the announcers are up for it as well.

Carrabis made a solid point after the Mariners/As game last night about how TV announcers (like our own @Conigliaro's Potential ) can make a huge impact on getting fans invested in these games. Last night was an absolute thriller for Mariners fans -- they went down 3-0 in the 1st inning and stormed back. The call on Haniger's 2nd HR was great -- a little too graphically violent perhaps ("He has just kicked the teeth in on the As!!") but it has that big game feeling that's what makes September/October baseball the absolute best:

Hell of a 2nd half for Goldschmidt. He's hit .336/.406/.633 since the break and he's been even hotter this month (.347/.438/.716).

Great battle between Smith and Galvis. Braves win.
The number is 3 I think but realistically the Phillies have to win out and the Braves would have to lose at least once to the Mets to force the Braves to play the makeup game.

Seattle wins again ... now a half-game behind the Red Sox
Good for them. Mariners fans deserve meaningful September baseball.

Last night felt like "The Game" for the Phillies with Wheeler on the bump to start the series against the Braves, and their offense just totally let him down. Stranger things have happened but it's hard to imagine the Phillies winning out with Wheeler not starting again until Sunday.

Seems like he got too drunk to remember what he was upset about, even, meaning it was probably nonsense.

Big whoops.

The resilience of the Giants is unreal. They lose both their starting 1b and backup 1b and comfortably slide in Wade Jr. They spend all season with heart-attack closers, then when those 2 start seriously faltering, they have a kid with a 101 mph fastball to close.

Magic number is 3 (with LA currently losing)

They are so deep. I think it might be because the roster was built with the expectation that a bunch of the vets (Belt, Crawford, Longoria, a few of the pitchers...) might be spun off at the deadline if they were out of it. But then everyone played well, and the team is great, so instead they added, and the result is kind of like the deep depth thing from 2013.

I thought for sure that was gone. I can't root against this Mariners team, even though I know I should.
While it is still a possibility I am shooting for Sox 3-1 rest of the way and either Tor or Seattle 3-1 while Yanks 0-4.

EDIT: hadn't factored in a possible win from SEA today. SEA and BOS 3-1 after today and Yanks can still have one win rest of the way and miss out.

Toro was the key piece they got at the deadline for Graverman, a deal which disrupted team chemistry initially.
The M's got killed in the press for that, but it looks like a heist from where I sit. They added Castillo to replace Graveman, but even the RP they got from Houston in the trade, Joe Smith, has thrown better than Graveman since the trade.

Great win for Seattle ... so hard to take six straight from an evenly matched team. Now they get a day off to recharge and head into the Angels series with a purpose.

A Red Sox loss and Toronto win tomorrow creates a three-way tie for the second spot

Just so very impressed with their ability to win close games
