Everybody knows that all SSD drives have limited lifespans, they can only do a specific number or read/write cycles before they die. Should you worry ? The issues are actually more complex: they all use logic to level wear by spreading the data, they all have over-provisioning (extra cells to replace those they sense have failed) and other strategies tied to the controllers in use. Knowing that it really has no valid statistical outcome, The Tech Report started a project to take a representative sample of consumer grade SSDs and run them into the ground simply for shits and giggles. basically, if you're not unlucky, none of us have anything to worry about: they will still be chugging along when the box or laptop that houses it has become seriously obsolete.
