And we also have to admit that while Cashman had a really good run at finding unbelievable trade value, the league has caught up or caught on in many ways. Bullpen arms are more plentiful and I think that's why he's still able to do so well every year but when it comes to pure offensive talent? He just can't seem to even get lucky right now. Maybe if Bader could stay on the ifeld.
By "right now" you mean this season? I distinctly remember Carpenter OPSing a gazillion last year.

Even this season he has found some very helpful relievers (Hamilton and Ramirez) and some adequate stopgap OFs (McKinney, Bauers, Calhoun).

“ 14 strikeouts today. The Yankees have struck out 10+ times in 20 of their last 32 games. The did it 20 times in their previous 67 games.

26 K% since Casey took over, which is high for an individual player and astronomical for a team. It was 22% (league avg) before the change.”

I don’t think this is much of a loss, but something else NY has to do this winter now.

RAB often pointed out that the Yankees under Casey saw way more pitches, but it didn't really lead to anything offensively. I do hope whatever he did to help DJLM become a good hitter again continues.

Nick Swisher and Tino Martinez being rumored on Twitter, Swisher seems like Casey on amphetamines.

I like it. Familiar with the organization and someone who has been doing hitting coach work for a long time. Nothing against guys like Sean Casey, but I'm glad they went with a deeper well of coaching experience.

That may be one of the most stereotypically dad looking humans I've ever seen. He is 100% in charge of the grill at Jasson's birthday party.

It's funny because that's how the (very good) Athletic piece announcing his signing reads too:

"Austin and Rowson had been close for years. When Austin was a well-regarded prospect in the New York Yankees’ organization, Rowson was a hitting coach and minor-league hitting coordinator. When the pair landed in Minnesota together, Austin trusted Rowson. They had developed a rapport that extended far beyond baseball.

“We talked more about life than hitting,” Austin, now playing for the Yokohama BayStars in Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan, said in a phone interview over the weekend. “He wants you to feel comfortable with him.”"
