How horrible. Their kids were born in 2004 and 2005 and they’ve lost both their parents in the last few months.

Rest in peace, Stacy.

Just incredibly heartbreaking in every way possible. Their kids have endured so much pain in such a short time. Soul crushing.

Deaths of people I don’t know rarely hit me as hard as Tim Wakefield’s did and today I am feeling the same way.

Incredibly sad.

Bests to the family. Tragic.

So they're most likely 19 and 18 and have had both parents pass in a matter of months. That's just heartbreaking. Given everything we've heard through the years about Tim, I would hope they've got a strong support network of family and friends to help them try and get through all of this.

Just awful, those poor kids (age 19 and 18 I think) losing both parents in the span of 6 months. May they have the legacy of their parents example and good family and friends to guide them through this and throughout life.

This is heartbreaking news, my goodness.

I feel awful for their kids. I was 18 when my mom passed, and it still effects me to this day at almost 45. I can't imagine if I had lost both parents back then.

Jesus. I was just thinking when I saw the thread bumped that Tim's death still hits me like it's new news. Then I opened it and...somehow the news is even worse.

Condolences to the family, especially their kids. Really, really unfair.

Pancreatic cancer is always deadly. My sister died of it so fast.
As for life being fair, it just isn't. I cannot imagine the sorrow enveloping the family right now and for some time to come.

Hits as hard as Wake’s passing.
This honestly hits me harder. I can’t imagine losing both parents in such a short period of time at that young an age and having to go through the same emotions.

So incredibly sad.

Son of a B. Man, that really really sucks. I feel so bad for those kids. Thank God the Wakefield's were such quality people and likely set their kids up to be the same because this is gonna be tough to overcome.

Sad news - both were amazing contributors to the city of Boston and Massachusetts with their foundations and charitable work.

Two amazing people...tears are flowing and heart is broken for their kids, Trevor and Brianna, on the brink of young adulthood.

Just horrible. My heart aches for those kids. Losing my dad around that age was such a gut punch. Losing both parents is unimaginable. I hope they have a really strong support network, and given the kind of people Tim and Stacey seem to have been by all accounts, I suspect they do. And yeah, resoundingly, fuck cancer.

May God Bless the Wakefield Family during this time, although in times like these I am at a total loss as to what His Plan is.

Damn...heart breaks for their family. As @ilol@u said both Tim & Stacey contributed enormously to the Boston community well beyond the baseball field. I hope their children & family know how appreciated they both were....

All I can think about it all the milestones those kids are going to miss sharing with their parents. Graduations, weddings, grandchildren - all of that is gone. And that’s not even getting into the fact that they lost both in less than a year. It’s unfathomably awful.

I’m so sorry Tim and Stacy Wakefield had to share this world with Curt Schiiling.

I expect their next world, they won’t.

Wow i dont even have the words, had no idea she was also fighting cancer....
Speaking of the words, did the team purposefully phrase this as such: "The loss is unimaginable, especially in the wake of losing Tim just under five months ago."

Obviously they weren't trying to be clever in such a sad and somber announcement but seems strange. I noticed it right away.

RIP, Stacy.

Blessings and peace to the Wakefield family.

As someone who lost his Dad to pancreatic cancer in my teens, in a span of 6 months, it hurts to hear this and think of how those kids have had their world shattered and turned inside out in the last year.

I believe -- not sure -- that hers went back further but while she was battling pancreatic cancer Tim was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, which if anyone has ever dealt with that in their family, it's swift and merciless. The thought of him getting that news while helping his wife's own dire situation is more than enough to move me to tears over the fates of total strangers.

This is tragic and also just seems so incredibly unlikely. I wonder if there is some environmental condition that affected them.
