This game is big not only for the obvious won-loss reasons but because a win here basically clinches the tiebreaker against the Bengals on common games. Essentially, win here and we have a two game cushion for a bye with three to play.
I believe that conference record is ahead of common opponent when it comes to tiebreakers for seeding among division winners, e.g. the wild card rules apply. That the Bengals have two in-conference loses compared to the Patriots one is still pertinent, of course.

But if we end up tied (ie, when tiebreakers apply), it will be because the Patriots lost another game and therefore have the same conference record.

Well if the Pats win out now, they will have the 1 seed. Here's the second chance.

This is random, but during the game last night, I thought I saw a blatant illegal motion penalty against the Pats go uncalled. It was during a red zone trip with the Pats going right to left (I think it was the series that ended with the Gronk TD). But, IIRC, a receiver (likely 'Dola) was split out wide to the right (top of the screen), the Pats got set, then Gronk and Bolden (?) got motioned out to the left (bottom of the screen). I wasn't paying close attention, so it may just be that the Pats weren't set yet, but I'm wondering if anyone else saw what I'm talking about.

I think it's OK to be set, motion 2, and get set again. Only a penalty if no re-set, two in motion at snap, or someone is moving toward LOS at snap.

Boy... I knew JJ Watt was overexposed from a media standpoint, but JJ sure loves himself some JJ. Only defensive player running around pre-game without a helmet... leads the team huddle/chant sans helmet (only one)... mimics the Beats By Dre commercial by staring "violently" off into nowhere on the bench (sans helmet, of course) while a camera hovers just feet away from his face...

As Mad Dog Russo would say... "Would you just shut up and win a game? Please? Win something. Win a game."

I mean... give it a rest, JJ. You got owned last night.

edit: helmut/helmet... ach du lieber!

Does Watt have a nickname yet? If not, I think he's supremely deserving of the FIGJAM moniker given to Phil Mickelson by his peers.

Did anyone? It was a huge ask. Two big losses today. Now get a win.
Absolutely. I picked Oakland (and Jax) in Pig Skin Pick'em. (Please don't' ask me about my picks in any other week.)

Denver is a good football team but they're definitely not a great football team. It's sitting right in front of everybody's eyes -- their QB has started 3 games in his entire NFL career. He's not that good. Their running game isn't that good. Broncos are going to lose more games going forward -- probably to the Steelers and maybe even to Cincinnati.

Unless 2013 Peyton Manning comes back they have very little to no hope of winning the SB.

If he qualified, Osweiler would be ranked 25th of 33 in the NFL in passer rating. He only appeared to be a revelation because he was replacing the last guy on the list.

There was the playoff game against the Pats a few years ago where he was running around (without a helmet IIRC) doing pushps and spitting on the pats logo pregame. Or his "solo" workout shown during hard knocks where he was out there, just working on his craft at night, all alone except for the camera crew and a couple of hundred fans.

This guy is just a grinder who gets it.
