Not to pick on you specifically, but if we want to dislike Reed for these rumors of rules violations, Tiger has had his share of highly public rules controversies...The cheating stories (also mentioned by Zomp) give me great pause. If true, he deserves all the scorn he gets. However, the stories have always struck me as a specifics-free smear campaign conducted by the enemies he made in college. I'm unaware of any allegations of cheating as a pro.
In a lot of ways, the stories about Reed remind me of how pros treated Ben Crenshaw when he came on tour. Crenshaw was a dominant amateur and won his first tournament as a pro. But he was not popular and stories (without any names behind them) of cheating in college were everywhere. And eventually Crenshaw evolved into a beloved figure and guardian of the traditions of the game.
I'll repeat what I said earlier - I like the fearlessness of Reed's game and his talent is immense. I am aware that he was somewhat toxic in college, but he seems to have grown out of it. The cheating allegations will always be what stops me from being a full-on fan.

...in a way that Reed hasn't, and he seems pretty untouchable in the public eye. (And Tiger is a proven marital cheat, although I suspect he's hardly alone in this regard on Tour, and he's got some way to go before his escapades match Arnold Palmer's in this regard.) My point is, all of this stuff is in the eye of the beholder; Tiger fans remind me of Trump supporters in some ways, willing to overlook a multitude of sins for their man because he does one thing very well and in a certain style all of his own, and it's not really rational why anyone who loves Tiger would intensely dislike Reed. But there's nothing wrong per se with having differing personal tastes.
