Are you upset? Do you need support?
I can almost guarantee that reading about the bear will cheer you up!
You’re right. It’s fantastic.

Did you see that bear cub? How could they resist?I can understand how the first 17 people could be bit or scratched, but #18 had no excuse.
Would that make it an emotional support bear again? Are you upset? Do you need support?

Would that make it an emotional support bear again?
The downside is that you'll just be unhappy again once you stop thinking about the bear.Would that make it an emotional support bear again?
Hilarious on the podcast today when Jimmy Kimmel calls out Bill for being the guy that wears a Ramones t-shirt yet couldn't care less about the band.
"You can't do that!"
"I just liked the shirt."
Bill absolutely is that guy. As a self-appointed pop culture expert, he should know how bad it is to wear a punk shirt and to not be down with that cause. Huge poseur move.

Well, that's dumb on at least two levels.Galaxy Brain...

I’m not on the Big Lebowski pod because I’ve still never seen the Big Lebowski - at this point the reactions of people who can’t believe I haven’t seen it outweigh how entertaining the movie might be.

He also refuses to watch The Simpsons because, “cartoons aren’t funny.”This has been his shtick since the last time I actually read him, which was like 2006. What was it, The Wire, that he’d always talked about he’d never seen?
In a way, he was the first and the worst hipster, and still is.
Must be miserable for him having kids.He also refuses to watch The Simpsons because, “cartoons aren’t funny.”
As someone who actually still follows Simmons and doesn’t just blast him for stuff he said 12 years ago or tongue and cheek comments on Twitter...
I thought he had a really good two-part podcast with Chris Bosh. Bosh is smart and insightful and had some great stories and anecdotes about playing in Miami. It’s also very apparent how difficult it has been for him since his career abruptly ended.
And, oddly enough because of the genius of the movie, brilliant in at least one intended way, as he his story with respect to this movie is now an unconscious emanation of the movie’s effect on him, which will now stand, man.Well, that's dumb on at least two levels.
A running gag/comment on his show is that he watches rated R movies with his kids.Must be miserable for him having kids.
Blanket proclamations that make those who make them sound like morons. Good show. "Blue cars aren't fast"He also refuses to watch The Simpsons because, “cartoons aren’t funny.”
Well, do you mean compared to cars that appear red?Blanket proclamations that make those who make them sound like morons. Good show. "Blue cars aren't fast"
He makes his kids watch R-rated action movies and horror flicks. No, really.Must be miserable for him having kids.
That's where you went wrong.Listening to Bill’s Dad
Even more so.*again*

Yes, that was awesome. What was not awesome was Kevin Durant. Man alive, Durant is a phony in so many ways, I completely skipped the 2nd part because I just couldn't listen to him anymore. By the end of the first part, the mere sound of Durant's voice was grating. The Al Pacino interview was so much better than I thought it would be. Bill said on Twitter he took a few minutes to warm up but once he did he was great. I definitely misjudged him because most of his characters are grumps and recent pictures have made him look very old so I assumed he would be checked out and just go through the motions but I think once he realized it was better than the usual junkets and he could go deeper he was into it. He gave very thoughtful answers and seemed to love looking back at his older movies.
Highly recommended
Many thanks for that tip - I was going to give that episode a miss. The Al Pacino interview was so much better than I thought it would be. Couldn’t agree more. That’s amazing how unlikeabke he came off there.Yes, that was awesome. What was not awesome was Kevin Durant. Simmons gets one of the best hoops players in history to be a friend of his Pod and it ends up being a fake poser. It's a shame he couldn't get Steph.
I actually enjoy watching two friends, or colleagues, interact when both default to always taking about themselves. There’s that unspoken battle for conversational control that I find enjoyable. I’m going to guess that Maron wears down Simmons and has Simmons interviewing him by the end.Simmons was on Maron’s WTF, if anyone is interested.
Listened to it and enjoyed it -- I'm a big fan of both Maron (whom I worked with at Comedy Channel in the early 90s) and Simmons and their podcasts.I actually enjoy watching two friends, or colleagues, interact when both default to always taking about themselves. I realize this was a long time ago but the reason Mike became Mike was because he was a huge stats guy. He came up through the research department at CBS and he got the Mike and the Mad Dog gig as the stats guy in contrast to Russo's opinions. There was a time when stats meant a lot to Mike. I agree, that ship has long since sailed. It's in Bora Bora by now.Because stats is a great way to reason with Francesca.

Maron definitely deferred to his guest, and for all his protestations, Simmons clearly enjoyed talking about himself. Not a lot of stories I hadn't heard before -- wish they talked more about the science of producing and marketing and making money on podcasts, where they are world-class experts -- but was a good way to get through my workout.
