Especially since he was arguably the most underpaid star of his era. Always a class act and even better he's cashing the Lakers checks in these final two years of his deal.BigSoxFan said:Should have retired like 3 years ago. Of course, don't blame him for accepting free money.

Allegedly blocking his wife from moving to CA so she can't cash in on the state's more kid-friendly child support laws.
She cheated on him w Jason Richardson and rumors are that the last child is Rochardson's. They split up the day after baby was born......I'm sure we can figure out the rest.jose melendez said:Didn't his ex cheat on him and have a child with another NBA player too?

It was also interesting how highly they all valued Payton. I think most would say that out of Kidd, Nash, and GP GP is the worst but they all seemed to think it was definitely Nash.
Really interesting clip and it seems pretty obvious why none of them actually gets to run their own team
It's like the Clippers and Lakers swapped bodies like an 80's comedy since the Chris Paul trade.ElUno20 said:Damn that's brutal. Clipper esque bad luck. Radio is going to be enjoyable today
So long as Bryant is healthy Phoenix will be cackling with joy. I think the Suns front office let out a cheer with the Randle injury as it was a practical guarantee of a mid lottery pick. (EDIT: To clarify because Randle/Nash went from a trade package for a pretty good player to something a whole lot less than that. Though I guess they could still probably make a deal with the Seventytankers for Michael Carter-Williams.)jmcc5400 said:Phoenix might have something to say about that. For the right to pay Steve Nash $10 million this year, the Lakers sent over their 2015 No. 1 (top 5 protected) in the sign and trade. I'm a little concerned that they will bottom out into keeping the pick this year.

Kobe is the coach. Byron is just there to do interviews.Grin&MartyBarret said:
I think the Lakers are (and were, prior to the Randle injury) a bottom 5 team. There's a very, very good chance they'll end up keeping their pick and I think they'll realize how bad they are quick enough that they won't make a panic trade. They're a really, really bad team without a single average defender on the roster. Their coach doesn't want them to take 3 pointers, and their offense is going to run through a 38 year old. That's a recipe for a bottom 5 team, and once they see that clearly they'll be smart enough to just play it out and hope they keep their pick.

As I noted in the other thread, they are on pace to mutilate records for worst defense ever. Currently more than a 3 pt lead over the worst team DRtg of all time.ElUno20 said:The level of quit this early in the season is really astounding. And Kobe's instinct to do it all himself and go renegade is actually contributing to it by alienating the team even further. I dont know what's the next lowest level for them. I guess kobe asking for a trade would be it but i just cant see it
Jim Barnett, former Celtic player and current Warriors color commentator made an interesting observation last night and it seemed to be confirmed by watching (Blacken's favorite, The Eye Test) Kobe play. Barnett essentially said that defense was the first skill to deteriorate for an older player. Kobe's offensive game, while not very efficient, is still pretty potent. However he looks absolutely awful on defense and even though it isnt a shock given his age, its a bit sad given that he was once a very good defender.Cellar-Door said:As I noted in the other thread, they are on pace to mutilate records for worst defense ever. Kobe is an integral part of the stealth tank they are pulling to keep that draft pick, he's impressively murdering them with his inefficient ball dominating offense and terrible terrible defense. It seems unlikely they can afford to trade him, it would probably be good for a 3-5 win increase that could cost them a 1st.
Well, shooting 30% from the floor will do that.soxhop411 said:@Bballinsider: According to Lakers Head Coach, Byron Scott, Kobe Bryant was excused from practice today because he was "angry with himself."
