Well, I lived in Upstate NY for several years and I can't blame anyone wishing for a domed stadium.

The makeup of the team can change but the sheer misery of being outdoors in Buffalo/Rochester winter never does.

If the Bills Mafia wants a dome because even they have gotten tired of being belted by the biting wind coming across the lake in November and December, so be it. It's a far better reason for doing than the owners wanting to make more money or because some people think domed stadiums make for better football.

Outdoor stadiums in inclement locations are definitely an advantage for the home team merely by virtue of the fact that they practice and play in those conditions. Belichick hammers this point all the time. Allen also has a massive advantage on account of his strong, weatherproof arm. They really just need a better O-line and more consistent run game. If I’m a BUFF fan I’d rather dress warm and win then watch games in a dome!

I suppose you could compare domed team's records from September through December in Northern open-aired to make a conclusion if it's advantage. It should be statistically significant, but I don't have an NFL database to query.
Also, you're not getting Justin Bieber to play in an open-aired stadium in January in Buffalo so there's that financial aspect outside of football.

Potentially dumb question but does every team that plays outdoors have outdoor practice facilities?

I hate cold so to me the dome is obviously preferable as a fan going to games but that is why I emigrated from Massachusetts to California as soon as I could.

Reiss made a good point about Folk doing the pop up kick with the wind in the fourth quarter. What was that about?

I'm guessing that in those conditions he wanted to force Buffalo to field and return the kick. Chance for a turnover or awful field position vs. just banging it through and starting on the 25.

Makes sense. It's interesting that they think Jake is not the guy for that and prefer that Folk do it. I kind of agree with Reiss that in that context it may have been too smart by half.

Jake probably just has too strong a leg, and Folk may have more experience with different trajectories kicking that way, since Bailey's primary role is a punter, after all. This is all conjecture on my part.

Probably thinking that since Bills deactivated their kick returners for the game, they'd have a chance of a miscue

I may be misreading it but from Reiss's report No. 5 it also seems pretty clear that DMac is saying that it was Steve's call.

How much is a domed stadium? A billion dollars? Wouldn't hiring Bill Belichick cost less?
There are estimates at $1.4B for a stadium, but I’m not sure if that’s covered or not.

I am guessing, but adding the dome would add maybe…15%-20% of the cost of the stadium itself, and maybe 5%-10% when you consider the overall acquisition cost of the plus site improvements and access and etc.
Maybe it’s higher, I don’t know. But it’s not like ‘a billion or nothing’ since they (owners) are already talking about a new stadium.

That being said, yes, teams should pay for their own stadia.

And one of the earlier kickoffs went right thru the BUFF KR's hands. He was lucky it scooted all the way out of the back of the end zone. I'm sure that Bill was thinking that anyone catching any ball in the air was an adventure so why not try to take advantage.
Which is incredible given McDermotts post game Commentary where he clearly didn’t even notice:

““The same reason that they turned it over on their punt return, I wasn’t willing to do that,” McDermott told reporters. “I wanted to put a guy back there that I trusted, that is going to make good decisions with the ball.”

I know you often have certain coaches who will handle the game preparation for important situations like 4th down packages, what they would run in different situations against that team that week, etc. so I wonder if that could mean some coaches help or call specific situations because they are prepared for it.

There's also the difference between "calling" the plays - relaying them in - and CALLING THE PLAYS, deciding what they should be, then calling them in. Steve could be calling them in, but with decidedly more input, even immediate, on-the-ground input, than what Josh receives. Which makes sense, given McD's more extensive experience and expertise.
