This was epically good. Dilfer getting the last word listing TB's greatness in the SB last night while CC stewed in particular.

The funny thing is every rabid mouth-foaming idiot who will spend the rest of their lives rending their garments over this game despite not being a Seahawks fan is partially responsible for their own misery.

Had they not whipped themselves into such a frenzy over a scandal that literally is based on nothing but basic science, they could have just enjoyed a great Super Bowl. I hated the shit out of Big Ben and the Steelers but I didn't run around screaming that they only won because Big Ben's penis gained sexual assault superpowers. I enjoyed a great goddamn game.

In sum, fuck you America, I'm a better fan than you.

How about the arrogance of Carter when he says "it's the players who decide his legacy," meaning that his opinion on the matter means more than most others'. Fuck that guy.

Cris Carter was a member of those great Vikings dynasties during the 90s. He should be an expert. Seriously ESPN get fucked

I don't know that I've seen a commentator so visibly angry on camera. He was chewing on his cheek.

What pisses me off...as others have said...Mortenson's original leaks have been accepted as fact; science and subsequent information have enlightened us. Yet I've been called a 'homer' who ignores evidence since it is my team.

Carter's silly argument was that it is easier to catch a 10.5 football than a 12.5. Even Dilfer's rebuttal was mostly 'everyone cheats'. That shouldn't be the conversation as we have all learned. Yet logic, science, and due process are swept under the rug; not just by jocks but otherwise reasonable, educated people.

I'm happy knowing Carter is going to spend his day being pissed off.

Anyway, I've lived in NY since 1990. This is a better argument to have than the ones back then.

Rapoport's report that most of the balls were just a few ticks below the minimum gets completely overlooked. These dumbfucks just accept as fact that 11 balls were at 10.5 psi.

My Facebook feed is turning into a lot of bitching about Carroll's terrible call. It's so fucking great.

There is a certain amount of satisfaction that comes from this, but what angers me about the bitching is that it robs Butler of the glory of one of the greatest plays I have seen in a key moment.

That pass was wide open at the moment that Wilson threw it. And he made a good throw to the precise spot.  The only problem was that Butler read the play, made an incredible break and beat the receiver to the spot.

The media should be focused on a game-winning play that was so spectacular the odds are they'll never see the likes of it again.  Instead, they are wallowing in their hate for the Pats and disdain for Carroll.

In short, fuck 'em all.

No he didn't. You have to throw that a little low and right at the receiver's body. There's no way you lead the receiver there once you see the pick wasn't set up perfectly.

The NY Post is really going overboard here. I realize they always go overboard about everything, but this is a major newspaper continuing to call the Patriots cheaters despite reams of scientific evidence to the contrary. It's irresponsible and despicable.

Russell Wilson is 5' 11". A low throw in the middle of the field in that situation is recipe for a deflection and possible INT.

Browner and Butler made perfect plays. I don't fault Wilson, other than maybe not audibling out of that call.

It's not a newspaper.  It's a tabloid that dresses itself like a newspaper to fool people into thinking they are reputable.

Each issue has about 4 national news stories cribbed from the AP (and each about 400 words long); a dozen local human interest stories ("Neighbor stole my puppies!" Says Bawling Bronx Babe"), a few pages devoted to celebrity gossip, and a 10 page sports section with nothing but hot takes.   The rest is ads and classifieds.   When i used to live in NY and had nothing to read on the subway, sometimes I'd pick one up for a quarter, and reading the entire thing cover-to-cover took literally 45 minutes.

Carter and TJ couldn't hide their Pats hate. I'll expect more of the same today and all week. They don't even care (or are aware) that they are embarrassing themselves holding on to false flags and hysteria. Patriots Jihadism is all the rage. Pun intended.

That was fun.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.  It might have been a bit high, but that's a function of Wilson's (lack of) height.  But in terms of leading him, the throw was exactly where it was supposed to be and the only reason it looks otherwise is that the receiver bounced off Butler, who broke hard and beat the receiver to the spot.

Butler played it perfectly.

Loved the contrast between the ESPN and NFLN postgame broadcasts.  Sanders and Irvin were awesome - they were practically genuflecting to Brady and hamming it up with Revis and Kraft, while Faulk just sort of sat there.

Nah, "despicable" is putting two random schmoes on the front page and erroneously claiming that they are the Boston Marathon bombers.

This is just sports, and pandering to knuckle-dragging NYers.  And it doesn't crack the top 100 of despicable things the Post has printed.  They are the most loathsome media outlet in the country.

It's strange, right?  The team that was looked upon to uphold the almighty Integrity(tm) of The Shield was the one who started a fight after they lost and then threw each other under the bus post-game.  So strange.

With the obvious Brady caveat, America will be unhappy to learn that this Patriots team is the youngest ever to win the Superbowl.

Fair enough, I have to agree with that. The paper willfully ignores the truth to pound a story into the ground in hopes of firing up their NY base. That's so sad. It's not even funny or cute. It's just lousy. But not despicable.

One of the things we heard earlier in the season but forgot about recently was that the Seahawks had a fractured clubhouse and that one of the major points of contention was Russell Wilson.

With that as context, the following quote is on Deadspin this morning and it paints a picture of a team that may be coming apart at the seams:

I'll spare you the numerous "What the (expletive) was he thinking?" mutterings I overheard from people in Seahawks uniforms and refrain from lending any legitimacy to the conspiracy theory which one anonymous player was willing to broach: That Carroll somehow had a vested interest in making Wilson, rather than Lynch, the hero, and thus insisted on putting the ball in the quarterback's hands with an entire season on the line. "That's what it looked like," the unnamed player said, but I'd be willing to bet that he merely muttered it out of frustration, and that it was a fleeting thought.

Seems fitting the a team coached by a 9/11 truther would be populated by players willing to believe truly crazy conspiracy theories ...

Don't get me wrong, I would rather take a hot poker to the eye than defend the NY Post.  Its is THE WORST.  If anything, them running a cheating-related headline just will rile up the dopey NYers who read that Godforsaken rag even more, so it's kinda awesome that way.

You want tears? Faulk finally admits Brady may be the greatest of all time. Just a short time before that, interviewing Revis in his full Pats gear & that glorious SB hat:

Somebody needs to find that Faulk clip and post it in the "Links to Savor" thread, ASAP.  I watched as much of the NFL Network interviews as I could, but I missed that one.

Hey, Tom sat on the sideline while his D saved him with a game ending INT. Peyton at least has the balls to throw that INT

Honestly, who gives a shit about the New York tabloids and their trolling?  I would have had more respect had they given the Pats their due while working in a little dig about NE not facing Eli or the Giants, but sticking with the 'Cheaters!' narrative is just pathetic and not worth my ire.  This win just further makes the two losses to the Giants look like an outlier in the Belichick-Brady championship run and not the defining feature that so many haters want it to be,
