Two missed practices - including the final one of the week. I think it's safe to be very concerned about Gronk's health for Saturday. Fucking shit...

This Gronk injury is strange. He played almost all the way through the Miami game (mostly blocking), and when Brady was pulled, he was pulled. Has he been dealing with this for awhile? Did he get hurt during the bye week?

Do we think that he got hurt at some point at the end of the Miami game, or tweaked it in practice? For once, I'm actually not super concerned about this, if only because he was playing and moving around well the last time we saw him, and he will be (hopefully) able to get through the walk-throughs. I'm cautiously optimistic that this is just BB recognizing how much more effective the offense is with Gronk as healthy as possible, and letting him take it easy.

(TL;DR: 'LA LA LA LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU)

Also gotta question the logic of traveling to Florida this weekend if his knee is still having issues. That one does not make sense to me.

Not to diss on the SoSH app, but the IPB Buddy app almost exactly mirrors the experience you get using a regular browser on a PC or laptop

This seems like maintenance. At this point in the season, classroom, film, limited light practice/walk through should be all he needs to prepare. They need(please!!) to get 3 more productive games out of him. And I seriously doubt sitting around a pool in Florida for a couple days has fuck-all to do with anything.

Its odd. Gun to head Id guess rest as well, but missing two entire practices during the week before a playoff game is odd. They let Gronk march to the beat of his own drum a bit with injuries and comfort level, hopefully that's all this is and Gronk isn't tentative on Saturday.

Normally I use IE (I know, habit) and I always get blanks for what I assume are tweet posts. Pasting this same link into Chrome and Firefox, I see the tweets/vids etc. as I assume the poster intends. Using Safari on the iPhone, I see the tweets. So something is amiss with certain browsers.

I was under the impression that flying could hurt swelling and recovery. If I am wrong about this then I withdraw my complaint.
He was injured earlier and came back. Now they are just trying to make sure he doesn't tweak anything before the most important stretch of the season.

There's been nothing to show this is a new injury. They're taking precautions with one of the most valuable guys on the roster.

Yes, my issue is with IE as well, which I have to use due to work, so in order to help out posters that maybe can't see it, can people simply also paste the text?

The idea here is to share info with as many people as possible.

More Gronk details

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowskispent part of Thursday in a Boston hospital getting treatment on his injured right knee which included an injection, according to a source familiar with the procedure.

The Patriots believe Gronkowski will play in Saturday's divisional-round playoff game against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs, but will ultimately need to see how Gronkowski feels on game day.

The Patriots practiced early this afternoon inside Gillette Stadium. Before the practice, head coach Bill Belichick was asked about his level of concern regarding Gronkowski and said, "We'll list the players after practice like we do every day."

Gronkowski practiced on Monday, was held out of the Patriots' full-pads practice on Tuesday, and was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday.

He sustained a bruise/strain of his right knee Nov. 29 against the Denver Broncos, then missed the Dec. 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He returned Dec. 13 against the Houston Texans before he was removed from the team's injury report the next week.

By all reports Gronk isn't an issue in terms of his playing on Saturday, but this raises my concern level for sure.

Injection can't be a good thing. What would the injection be? I assume if they were draining it they would have said drained and not injected. Paging @DaveRoberts'Shoes DaveRobertsShoes please pick up the white courtesy phone.

Sounds like he got a cortisone injection, maybe they did it under the xray just to be super sure it went into the knee - that would explain the "hospital" part of it

Oh, and I'm fucking concerned about his status for Saturday. I'm sure he'll play, but who knows how limited he'll be. The health issues this year can eat the fattest one.

Im more worried about getting tentative, 70% speed Gronk then him not playing, but its not good. They still have enough to win a home game with the Chiefs, but going to get harder after that if Gronk isn't full go or very close to it.

How quickly can one play after a cortisone shot? [I'm shaky on remembering when/how/if/why baseball players get it but remember a "waiting period" sometimes associated with injections?]

It's very odd that Gronk played these last few games and is now getting a cortisone shot two days before our first playoff game.

It didn't seem like BB was trying to win vs. NY or Miami. Why didn't they just put Gronk on the figurative DL and just let him fully recover?

Gronk wasn't even on the injury report the last week or two of the regular season. Clearly something happened at practice to aggravate it.

timeline (* = speculation):
He was partying over the weekend; practiced Monday - looked good (there's film of him darting through a footwork drill) *tweaked it or worse following the media portion of practice*; didn't practice Tuesday *resting the recent re-injury*; practiced yesterday, but was limited *made an attempt to get back out there, but with only mixed results*; missed practice and had an in-hospital injection today.

So much for getting a healthy squad back. They may be able to beat KC at home with decoy Gronk, but probably not anybody else. This doesn't seem like something that is going to be healing before the offseason. Maybe the Superbowl bye week will get him close if they do manage.

We. Have. Not. Even. Played. The. Game.

KC is not healthy either.
We were MUCH healthier last year

This feels similar to 2 years ago where we just didn't have the horses to go into Denver and give a competitive game

A lot will be determined by how JE11 and Gronk look in the 1st qtr on Saturday

KC has lost their best 2 offensive players since the season started. Denver's QB sucks (I mean, Brady's crappy game against Miami generated a higher passer rating than Manning for this season). Pittsburgh may be without their top 3 offensive players from when the season started.

I will say laying 5 is looking a lot less enticing than it was 72hrs ago.
Ware back at practice for KC, Maclin a long shot but not yet ruled out.

They'll still have more horses on both side of the ball than in 2013 and wont face a harder spot than that game at Denver until the Super Bowl. They were certainly healthier last year, but its not time to panic.

I don't see anything wrong with people saying "this is starting to feel like it's not the year." Pretty much every important player on the team is banged up except for Butler and a couple D-lineman. Things aren't all sunshine and roses. I hope they'll figure it out, and trust them to, but I don't think anyone should be surprised if the team plays like less than a juggernaut Sunday.

Their injury situation really isn't much worse than any other team in the AFC at this point except maybe Denver, who just has to deal with the risk that the stats are right and they are starting the worst QB in football.
