1) Chara seems to take an inordinate number of shots that are deliberately wide of the net.  i can't remember one ever turning directly into a goal.  Is this a tactics he uses to set up other players as it happens, or do you guys think it is something he does when he doesn't have a clear shooting lane to put it in the goalie's head in the hopes that he can get him to react slower later?

The idea is to miss on the near side so the ricochet off the end-boards puts it right in front of the net.  Its an indirect way to get a puck to the front of the net to someone rushing through traffic.

Chara looks like a different player than he did at the end of last season, and that's a good thing.  Hope he keeps it up.

I do have two questions, though, for those who know more than me.

2) Pasta is obviously really, really talented.  However, I have seen him multiple times a game away from the puck end up in the exact same spot of ice as one of his teammates?  Does it seem like this is him needing to make adjustments, or his teammates still learning to adjust to him?
Haven't really noticed the Pastrnak thing. As for Chara shooting wide, it's mostly a last resort. It is not really a play designed for anything. When you're high on the blue line and you've got the puck up, any turnover is disaster (just like the first shift tonight where he threw it into the defenders shin pads and then he had to take a penalty to stop a breakaway) that leads to breakaways and odd man rushes. Instead of trying to force it on net or force a pass, he'll send it in deep any ways possible, which is sometimes those flips that aren't really shots. Getting the puck deep is never a bad play.

Great experience last night at the Pepsi Center. Probably about 70/30 Avs/Bruins fan ratio. Avs fans in my section were getting restless. Had lots of fun, chatted, handshakes, & high-5s from Bruins & Avs fans alike.

Glad you had a good night. Of course you realize you have to drive to Arizona for Saturday's game now right?

I thought the game in Phoenix was the 27th because I am dumb and read the schedule wrong. Now I'm tempted to make the trip for Saturday's game.

Maybe having at least 1 SoSH contingent per road game will change up the season.

That didn't seem to work too well for games 1-3.

But fuck it, I'm making the 6 hour drive tomorrow morning with my daughter and we will be in the house.
