We’ll examine four plays from the Jets-Raiders game with Oakland defending. Two went up the middle for big New York gains, while the others were failed attempts at running outside the tackles. As it turns out, three of these plays (including the two that worked out well for the Jets) occurred consecutively in the third quarter, so let’s begin with those.

Just wanted to say that I found this article extremely interesting and informative.  The emphasis on failed techniques by the two Oakland LBs in particular made me briefly feel like i might actually understand some small part of the nuances of good or bad defensive play heading into this weekend.  Thanks for this.

Glad you enjoyed it man. Just wait until the "Know Your Enemy" piece later in the week, it gets worse for Burris. Hard to play linebacker in the NFL if you tend to shy away from contact...

I'll post this in the running thread since #55 Sio isn't in many of Oakland's nickel packages. Got a text from him saying he couldn't go in practice (ankle) and doesn't look like he'll be making the trip.

Guessing the Raiders policy on players talking about injuries is a little different than BB's?

Well in fairness we were gonna get up following their last meeting on Saturday night at the hotel for ticket exchange, shoot the shit, etc. It isn't like I'm media.
