Running the ball takes teamwork; sometimes, it is not so much about the play design as it is about the matchups, the individual effort, and the faith to know that the hole will be opened up by a lead blocker. SoSH Football Central’s Mark Schofield and Brian Filipiak will show how teamwork between the offensive line and the ball carrier combine to produce positive running plays.

Lateral steps people.

Excellent article as always Mark.

It's actually a co-authored piece - Mark Schofield and Brian Filipiak (aka nazz45).

But yeah...it is a really excellent read. Teamwork...it's FAN-tastic.

Correction to my previous post:
Excellent article as always Mark and excellent work Brian/nazz45 who continues to do excellent work showing me how run blocking schemes work.

On that note, can we have a master list somewhere correlating SoSH names to FC names?

This is exactly the kind of article I'm proud to point to when I hear my non-sportsing friends decry football as just a bunch of guys in tights slamming into each other. While that certainly happens, there's so much in the way of technique and skill and teamwork that combine to make proper offense or defense a delight to watch. I often wonder how much of this is evident to the coaches and players while in-game, learning not only when plays succeed/fail, but whether it was due to exceptional failure or exceptional execution.
