Altidore is a useless fucking turd. Celebrates his tap-in like he did something impressive (away from Pulisic, who set him up) then barfs up a 1v1 without getting a shot off.

He had assist on Pulisic's goal.

Bruce - Game is going to get a little physical, a little unbalanced in the second half. We gotta be smart.

also Bruce - Game is gonna get CONCACAF-y

California. Duh.
Another great thing is this is swinging the goal differential hugely right now. If this score holds, Panama win their last game and the US ties T&T, they would be even on points but the GD has gone from Panama +1 to USA +5.

I dislike watching games I really care about in bars, but here I am. Maybe I should do this more often.

I like that Arena realized that his tactics were disastrous in the midfield, but rather than fix the midfield decided "fuck it Panama can't defend either" and just went super-attacking with no midfield to speak of and we'll just outscore them. Very Klopp of him.

A 0-0 and a point would have been great for Panama, and they could have always had chances to steal it on a counter-attack.

I have no idea why they set up as attacking as they did.

The US blew the doors off Panama early in the game, attacking and running all over the field, not sure it would have made too much of a difference what Panama did.

Because of the huge difference in goal differential, the US could basically clinch at least a playoff tie tomorrow if Honduras loses to Costa Rica. And unless Panama can run up the score on CR Tuesday, a point against T&T should get them 3rd place and a ticket to Russia.

Kind of lame assist IIRC. He played it well behind Pulisic, who had to crane it forward with his boot at waist level and had some work to do to beat Penedo.

The cut to the near post then peel off to the far post for the goal was nice though.

It was flicked to him off a header from a goal kick--his job was to get it up to Pulisic. He didn't have time to play it perfectly. He did exactly what he was supposed to there. If you have the skill of Pulisic, your job there is to get him the ball. Altidore had a long stretch where he did nothing. Tonight wasn't part of that.

Wood, Pulisic, and Altidore played well together tonight.

Yeah I'm basically the President of SoSHers against Jozy and I thought it was a nice assist, got it into a dangerous space where Pulisic would be able to run into it. Jozy was pretty good tonight.

I still have deep concerns about Arena's decision to just concede the midfield and let 2-3 opponents run at Bradley with pace 20+ times a game. A good team will shred us if we keep doing that. Luckily we won't play a good team in a competitive match until the World Cup.

Fantastic crowd tonight. Easy I guess when you're romping. Outlaws were awesome. It's hard to get over how dramatically different non-Columbus qualifiers have become in just a couple of cycles. Orlando is a really neat venue.

Those who are critical of Altidore confuse me. He was fucking great. All the dude does is score big goals in qualifiers.

I'm a big proponent of steeply angled stands (I'd love to go to La Bombonera some time). Newer MLS stadia have been trending in that direction and Orlando City's stadium is a prime example. I think having so many fans on top of the field adds a little something to the crowd atmosphere. They've got a safe standing section there, too.
