I say it every week, but I disagree with everyone giving FSU shit. All that matters is wins. They win. They win ugly. If winning by large margins and looking good doing so were what mattered, the New England Patriots don't deserve the 2001 Super Bowl. At some point, folks will realize that it's really hard to win every week, week in and week out. FSU lost 13 of their starting 22 players to the NFL last year, and they are still 11-0. I don't care what the games look like, only what, Marshall University, can say the same thing right now? Yeah, they aren't playing the SEC schedule, but they don't control who is in their conference. Do I think Bama and maybe Oregon are better than they are, and will likely beat them in the playoffs? Sure, but until they lose, they absolutely deserve to be in the playoffs.
BigMike, I also disagree that the chances of their kicker missing from inside 40 yards was greater than BC going 80 yards. Coming into tonight, he had not missed a single kick inside 50 yards in his college career. He just missed a 42 yarder earlier in the game, but I think the chances of him missing again were about 1000 to 1, assuming the snap was good. The odds of BC going the distance were probably just as tiny, but at least, they would have had a chance. Barring a bad snap on the field goal try, the guy wasn't missing and BC had no chance of winning because the clock expired. I wish more teams would take the chance and let the opponent score, and I think that situation screamed for it.
