While we are awake worrying about the effect of this game on the Patriots playoff scenario, Tom Brady is asleep in his bed. What does that say about us?

Carr eliminated as MVP candidate. Maybe for 2-3 years.
Cool. Certainly didnt want him to go into contract negotiations with that on his resume.

You guys are right, he's terrible. He's also going to rip your defense to shreds in a few weeks.

(and yes, the Raiders will still get outscored)

Teams with a +3 Turnover margin and 135+ yards rushing had won 60 straight games before tonight.

I seem to remember the Patriots somehow pulling out a -3 TO game sometime in the last few years. Maybe it was more than a few years ago, I dunno. Is there an easy place to look this up? PFR doesn't have turnovers, or TO margin, as filter criteria.

OK, digging a bit I see game 15 vs MIA in 2007 was -3, and the 2011 game vs DAL was -2 but kinda mayhem-y. That's just from searching on "INTs >= 2", so maybe I'm missing a fumble-icious game for us.

Then there's three fun games from a league-wide search:
2007 wk 5: Tony Romo throws 5 INTs, but stages furious 12-pt 4th quarter comeback to beat Buffalo 25-24
2012 wk 11: Matt Ryan throws 5 INTs, team also fumbles one and loses TO battle by 5, somehow rallies from down 13 to tie the game at halftime, and again in the 4th Q to win it
2013 wk 16: Carson Palmer beats the Legion of Boom despite a 4-INT day, in a see-saw game where Russell Wilson had bupkes too

Carr is a beast but even beasts have off nights, especially in the cold. I agree he will dice the Pats secondary up like a giant SlapChopper though the Pats are much stingier than KC on run defense so Carr likely wont have the luxury of a strong ground game.

Khalil Mack is just peaking right now - he is the master of the strip sack. In short, I am sorry for your team's loss tonight but I want no part of the Patriots playing in Oakland in the playoffs.

Good thing football isn't set up like boxing. No good teams would ever play each other and risk an L.

PFR's team game finder has "Turnover Margin" as one of the "Additional Criteria." Here's the list of -3 TO wins since 2000: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/tgl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=game&year_min=2000&year_max=2016&game_type=E&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&week_num_min=0&week_num_max=99&temperature_gtlt=lt&game_result=W&team_conf_id=All+Conferences&team_div_id=All+Divisions&opp_conf_id=All+Conferences&opp_div_id=All+Divisions&team_off_scheme=Any+Scheme&team_def_align=Any+Alignment&opp_off_scheme=Any+Scheme&opp_def_align=Any+Alignment&c1stat=turnover_diff&c1comp=lt&c1val=-3&c2stat=choose&c2comp=gt&c3stat=choose&c3comp=gt&c4stat=choose&c4comp=gt&c5comp=choose&c5gtlt=lt&c6mult=1.0&c6comp=choose&order_by=pass_td

Pats beat Miami 28-7 with a -3 differential during 2007, and Carolina 20-10 at -3 two seasons later. The Atlanta and Dallas games you mention are two of only three -5 games since 2000, but there was a -6: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200011190oti.htm

Has this been verified? If true, I'd love to see a reply that shows it
I looked around for proof after reading that post and while a bunch of people tweeted about it, there's no video that shows anything definitive. It's possible, but it's definitely not something that clearly happened.

Dan Patrick was just talking about it and it seems like NBC is refuting it. They say that the wires from the cameras are behind the line of scrimmage. And the camera never shakes when the wire was allegedly hit. Obviously, Patrick works for NBC but he didn't really have an opinion either way.

The network would know as that camera would have wiggled a lot when it happened. But it is in the NFL's best interest, in terms of protecting their broadcast partners, of burying that video.

IT DOES NOT MATTER

But conspiracy theories and whining about trivial reasons why your team found a way to lose a game they should have won is fun, so.... David Carr is saying it happened. That tells me Cooper and Carr think it happened, though there is zero chance they will say that publicly.

I think we will need to see the All 22 to know for sure, rest assured that is the first play I am looking at later this afternoon when the A22 drops.

Here
It also looks like the game might have been more competitive in the stands:

Looks like the video ends just as some dude is throwing a massive cheapshot on a guy below him talking to a cop. Like a milisecond before it connects the video stops.

Fox just reported Steelers have been accused by Giants of deflating footballs.

Might be worth a new thread but no fucking way I'm starting it.

Mariota drops the snap, picks it up, chucks it to Delanie Walker, who blows through the defense for a 15 yard TD. Great effort by Walker.

Edit: I guess he stepped OOB at the 5 or so. Still doesn't change the great effort.

Titans do what Patriots should have done vs Seattle, run it three times with running backs and score a TD
