Zappe gives me the impression that he doesn't ever really lose confidence. Good or bad. It's very much the opposite of the impression I have of Jones.
The refs suck but are so overloaded with crap to think about. Did he complete the catch? Was the hit to the head? Was the QB hit too high or too low? Was there a slight jiggle of the ball when you slow the film down to 0.000001 second?
They are Zebra Mac Joneses.
That play was a 100% Mac collapse/sack.
Neither one of them are good, but Zappe does have better field and rush awareness for sure.
Maybe that's why Mac looks better in practice... you cant hit the QB. When the D is trying to take your head off, Zappe sometimes makes clever plays with his feet to buy time or get some yards while Mac is a puddle.
Buffalo’s D just aggressively over pursues everything, which bad offenses obviously struggle to expose. But any good offense will make them pay.
