DeSean Jackson -- another fucking wrecking crew available last offseason. Gang ties my ass.
U cannot be serious.

Zero chance you advocated the Pats to sign Jackson.

We should never have ties. Not even the NHL has them. Just do sudden death or a field goal competition if you want to be gimmicky like the NHL.
I'd be down with this. Anything is better than a tie.

Quite. Look at his stats. They are historically great insofar as big plays are concerned, and he shows no signs of slowing up.

Philly flat out cut him and is paying the price.

What, you think it would be a bad idea for the Pats to sign someone with alleged gang ties?

The Eagles are in 1st place.  What price is being paid?

I didn't advocate the Pats sign him. They were not positioned to take ANY chance in this regard for some very obvious reasons.

Not all of my comments are Pats related. In this case it was Eagles related.

Looking at the replay in slo-mo, it looks like he planted awfully close and never gave his hips a chance to come through at all, so the swing ended up working just like a slice in golf.  Dragged his leg through and was playing catchup the whole time.
I watched it in slo-mo too and just saw his hands grabbing his own neck

Then why did you say "available in the offseason?" What was that implying?

If you don't understand why he wasn't an option for the Pats I don't know what to tell you.

Offense has been very good the last two weeks. Stop crying about what could have been.

Seahawks are having all kinds of injury problems today. Bobby Wagner is out and questionable to return. Byron Maxwell just got hurt. and Kam Chancellor was banged up coming in.

In a mediocre division. Their offense lost an important dimension with Jackson. That is not reasonably disputable at this point of the season

Who was he "available" for, then?

Don't be so touchy and see my post above. This is not Pats thread. It's an NFL game thread.

I just don't get much out of the free agent played good everyone who didn't get him screwed up line of though. Might have been a bad decision, but pretty clear Jackson was cut for a number of reasons beyond on field performance and gang ties.

You talked about him being "available". Strange choice of words if what you meant was Philly should not have cut him.

But keep digging.

Rams, Browns, Jets, Chiefs, Raiders and 49ers had obvious needs. As did Eagles.

Oddly, the Skins did not need him as much but added him anyway.

He just had another 40+ yard reception.

The Seahawks have a cornerback starting that they signed yesterday. Good times!

They have switched Richard Sherman onto Dez Bryant, though.

Dick Stockton just had DeSean Jackson catching a pass from Carson Palmer because the real recipient wears #11 too - Larry Fitzgerald.

Dick was on Boston TV 40+ years ago. I think we're done here.

Remarkable isn't Dallas?

For the record, I do believe LaFell, Edelman, Tyms, Gronk and Wright will be quite enough to get it done if these guys, esp Gronk, stay healthy. If the fall short, it won't be because of receivers.

And BB/Caserio and Co obviously deserve a ton of credit for LaFell and Wright.

At this point, I view whatever we get from Dobson and Amendola as gravy.

You mean there wasn't a "too many men on the ice" penalty in that game?

NFL is short on announcers this w/e because of playoff baseball. But Stockton would be there anyway.

McClain could not stay out of the doghouse in Baltimore. Jerry took a chance.

Stockton did the international broadcast of SB 36 and sounded completely out of it then.

Bruce Arians totally snookered DC on his starting QB. Nobody here thought Palmer would be playing. He actually looks good

Chargers get inside the twenty. Commit three penalties, then fake punt after a field goal called back from holding on 4th and 40

Better late than never -- Jerry Jones actually allowed his professional people to rebuild the o-line with unsexy picks.

He said all week that Palmer had a chance of playing.  Reports this morning said Palmer would be active.

No doubt in my mind that San Diego blows this game.  They've done everything but basically hand the game to Oakland to this point.
