Honestly, he’s deserved every bit of it, but the fact he shook it off and balled like this today is legitimately impressive.
This is the thing about Mac that gets lost in all the consternation about his arm strength, the shouting on the sidelines, the bad stretches: the guy is elite at shaking bad shit off and moving onto the next play (admittedly, he’s had a lot of opportunity the last two seasons).

Remember in 2021 how he threw a dime for a TD at Trayvon Diggs one play after Diggs returned one for a pick six? Mac may never put it together for 17 games a yea but that’s a skill you need in the field manager for a team that’s rebuilding.

Yep, much props to Mac: thats 4 good quarters and a game winning drive. Only possible because of finally getting solid o line play. Bourne and Douglas looking like real WRs, both RBs going off, all of a sudden TEs are open and your are rolling.

Running game wasn't even really good. Take out the Pop 20 yard sweep and the Mac scrambles and they had 20 rushes for 65 yards

I find it odd that pats fans actively rooting against them would both be 1. Watching their team and 2. Game threading about it. You know, some of us won't be alive next year. This could be all there is

They're not actually rooting against them. It's a defense mechanism. Well, maybe a couple are. But they're not really fans.

I was asked this by a woman I work with and said like once a week and apparently I’m a stereotype
Since I work in sports ministry and I read and teach the Bible regularly, I often think about the Roman Empire - like a lot. But I have a certain context to my professional life that kind of dictates it. So I don't think many people are in my boat.

Still...how this became a meme, I have no idea. LOL

I enjoyed it but I'd rather see a top 5 pick given the "opportunity" brought about the state of the O-Line and injuries to their best defensive players.
I do understand this. But only insofar as a potential draft pick to be decided in 10 weeks time is a nice silver lining to a shitty and unenjoyable week/season. Otherwise winning is better.

Plus, not only did they not lose ground on Talkathon, the Cardinals and Broncos each have a chance of winning today.
I'll take enjoying a good win against a hated opponent in this case

Eh...not my fight. But I think we should cool the "who is a fan" talk.* Hoping for a loss to get a better draft pick isnt really a whole lot different than spending 23 hours a day virtually shitting on Mac Jones or Bill Belichick.

*Not that it isn't entertaining. I lived in Wilton from age 10-20. (we were the renters; and for a couple of years, we were also the Jews). Fairfield had bars and the Fairfield Diner was open all night. Wiltonites didn't fight. They booby-trapped their lawn jockeys.

To be fair, I grew up in Foxboro.

Fairfield is pretty soft, but the mean streets of the ‘Boro shaped me. Dawg.
Oh I don't doubt that Foxboro is a rough place too. But the Fairfield shade felt a bit too much for me. In an hypothetical land war between Fairfield and all of Rhode Island, I am taking the former each and every time.

Not mine either. I wasn't in the thread. Looks like I missed a good time.

Just responding to that one comment. Hoping for a loss is a bit different than rooting against your team while watching the game. A lot of people say they are but I don't think they really are. That was my point.

Honestly, I want to roll the dice on having some sort of crazy turn around season versus maybe, possibly, getting 10 spots higher in the draft. I’ve seen a lot of winning the last 20. Let’s be the underdogs and go fucking nuts. Onto Miami. LFG.

I’ve been torn on this. Part of me still feels that a bottom out is inevitable, if they’re going to do a needed, thorough rebuild. But fuck me, when it’s Sunday at 1, I really want to win. And I have so much admiration/appreciation/respect for BB, it just feels wrong to root for him to go out with his tail between his legs. Long way of saying: fuck yeah, let’s beat Miami’s ass next week and see where it may go from there.

For me it’s all about next week. Win next week and LFG. Lose and LFT. (T = Tank).

"I'm from Fairfield County"

"Oh, Bridgeport?"
In all seriousness, some of the people whom I know who live there are amongst the most ruthless folks you will ever meet. They are terrible human beings, they appear to shed rather than add friends/family and you feel slimy even having to interact with them. But there are some killers there for sure. I wouldn't be inviting them to RI to fight or for any other reason.

Living in CT and being a re-seller I go to the bridgeport and fairfield goodwills quite often... and also pick up from a lot of auctions or estate sales in the area... Feel like I may be missing some of the borders.. because from my experience parts of Fairfield are pretty nice, but almost all of Bridgeport (that I've been to) feels sketchy. We eat at Geronimo Tequila Bar often and that part of Fairfield at least feels not so bad.

On a side note I played four Buffalo Bills on my daily fantasy team today.. I figured that if the Pats won it'd be great and if they got smoked at least I may make some money. Also..given my fantasy luck the last few years I figured the Bills were doomed today.

I’m defensive about Bridgeport. Sure the mayor’s a crook and there’s parts of the city that are… not good. But there’s a lot of cool spots there too. The sketchiness is part of the charm. Especially surrounded by the rest of Fairfield County.

Apologies - I am being a bit flippant but to be clear I am referring to Wall Street types who aren't originally from CT and wouldn't spend any time there if it wasn't tax advantaged. Hopefully its a much different crowd than the one you are encountering.

I stand by having Fairfield money in a fight vs all of RI. Its not that they are tougher - they can just hire an army of mercs from Academi to fight for them.

Yeah! We probably spent more time in Bridgeport voluntarily than anywhere else in Fairfield County. The last night we were in CT we asked the kids where they wanted to go and Captain’s Cove was the winner in a runaway. That downtown is so close to being cool. The stretch from Fairfield to the water is fun with some really good places to eat (though at night the parts close to 25 get awful). From the train station to the water is pretty neat. Some of the best restaurants around. The best seafood grocery stores in CT by a significant margin.

easily my favorite CT and it’s funny the people spending millions on houses look down on the best thing that they have going for it. Who the fuck wants to hang out in downtown Darien?

That’s Black Rock and St. Mary’s by the Sea. That area is even better now than it was when you moved away.

The concert amphitheater that opened south of downtown a couple years ago is first class. And they’re opening a 2-3K capacity concert hall next door.

Anyway, that’s plenty of Bridgeport talk for this thread.

Didn't come into this thread until this morning but holy crap, there was an honest to goodness "want to meet up tough guy?" exchange in the game thread? That's fucking hysterical. Is the fight going to be in the Tastee Freeze parking lot after the homecoming game on Friday?

Why wait till after the game? Under the bleachers DURING the game is the only way to really fight

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a Fairfield. RIrooter09 will meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The Pats world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
Doesn't make any sense.
