Maybe I’m wrong but to me it seemed the bubble regular season was way more interesting than the playoffs, at least so far. But first rounds can be a bit anticlimactic.

yeah, gotta remember the great bubble games were mostly similarly talented teams. First round has a wide disparity (particularly in the East) and then throw in some injuries. 2nd round will Be great.

Second round in the East should be awesome at least, Bucks/Heat and Celtics/Raptors will both be excellent, well matched series.

Fouling down 11 with 44 seconds left makes me angry as a biased under investor. Admit defeat!

Edit - they backed off and under 224.5 hits. Ingame betting of under 235 hits. Under Port 109.5 hits. Under Port 113.5 hits. Huge.

Monster games from LeBron/AD. Portland needs to get something out of their bench and they got nothing. Trent was playing out of his mind during the seeding games but has fallen back to earth in the playoffs.

I don’t know what the solution is to dealing with the first round, but something has to change. Maybe do away with the conferences and re-seed 1-16 based on record, give the #1 seeds a bye, something.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but maybe the NBA could take a page out of the NHL’s book and have the first round of the playoffs be a round robin for the top 4 teams in each conference for seeding purposes (with the added tweak that the top seed would get three “wins” heading into the tournament, the second team two, and third team one - so it would be very difficult for the first place team to drop to fourth seed). And then the bottom four teams would play best of 5 or something.

Or just give the four (or two) top teams byes, but that’s a lot of rest/time off that I’m not sure the top teams would even want.

The 1-16 seeding is a legitimate idea that has legs, but the problem this year are mostly due to injury luck/consequences of the bubble:

* Philly is missing arguably their best player which reduced that series to a blowout.
* The Nets are missing basically all of their good players, not even considering Durant.
* Orlando is missing key guys in Gordon and Issac.
* Indiana is missing arguably their best player in Sabonis.
* Denver is missing key players in Gary Harris and Will Barton.

All of the other series, LA/Portland, HOU/OKC and LAC/DAL have all been decently competitive.

What needs to be dealt with? If you look back at past years, the first round hasn't really featured a much higher percentage of blowout series than the second round. And this year's first round isn't even over yet. Maybe it's just an aberration...or maybe we have a few surprise 6- and 7-game series in store. NBA playoff series have a funny way of turning around sometimes.

1-16 wouldn't really fix anything in the first round, there would be just as big if not bigger mismatches.

With OKC pulling out the win last night, I think OKC-Hou still has barn-burner potential. Lots of great storylines, regional rivals, plenty of bad blood, CP crotch-punching, Mike D looking ready to Bobby Knight some chairs, the rise of Lu Sleepy Dort as Harden-stopper, etc.

Throw in a similarly contentious and potentially tight LAC-DAL series (if Luka’s okay physically) and that’s about all I expect in the first round. I think we may have been a bit spoiled by the ridiculous intensity and drama of the seeding round. Usually the first round is a massive step up in drama from all the late-season resting and tanking.

This Kobe propaganda on the ABC pre-game show is disgusting. "Kobe is the kind of guy that young women were lucky to have in their lives"

Luka is starting even though that ankle injury didn't look good the other night. Hopefully he can manage.

What the hell? They were showing Porzingas warming up several times during the end of the C's game and now he's out?

No Porzingis makes for a much less interesting Sunday afternoon. Would love for at least one of these first round series to make it to 6. Maybe OKC and Houston?

Mark Jackson coming to terms with white guys being players.

Guys used to say they were not tough, couldn't play in the paint, would be scared but that's not true anymore.

JVG it never was true.
