Will Middlebrooks may have peaked as a broadcaster with his call on that HR: "Dear God".
That was pretty fabulous.

I don’t always have a chance live, but I watch the recordings in the morning and skip to see his at bats at minimum if pressed for time. Literally appointment viewing for me.

IIRC he had a rough start in AAA last year before putting up numbers the rest of the way.

Curious, why do people post the Tweet and then copy it in text under the Tweet? I see it often. Seems redundant if avoidable.
Some folks don't see the tweet itself. Same with youtube videos. It's a courtesy thing

to be more specific, some folks are using computers that block social media so if the text isn't copied they have no idea what's being said.

Yes, this is me and many others I think. I only have a work computer and social media is blocked.

All I see for every Twitter post on this forum is a big empty box. Super helpful when people quote the Tweet below.

If you OPS .827 in the show, you can dance with a plastic bucket and they'll call you colorful.
Nice, he’s predictably skipped right over the moldy shower shoes.

@P’tucket my mind also immediately went to various weird golf swing devices and practice techniques. Somewhere a golf pro is taking notes…

Orange five gallon bucket: $2

Can of blue paint: $3

Blue five gallon golf swing mechanics appliance: $79

Profit: $74

There are a lot of desperate golfers in the world.

What a spectacular interview. I simply adore this kid, and i want him in a Sox uniform forever. Is there a more self-aware, self-confident player who has the same level of both confidence and chill out there?

A while back they interviewed him on the post-game show and he broke down the entire game. Afterwards one of the guys on the desk was like, well, Triston just did our job for us, what do we talk about now?

A good in-game mic'd up candidate. But he could do it while hitting.

They've had him miked up before. A lot of "baby's"

e.g. They caught him chatting up the HP ump before his first at bat. "Just to let you know, I call out stuff for myself as I see it, not trying to upset you, show you up, etc... Alright... cool, have a good game baby. Hey <catcher> . How's it going baby? "

This interview is astonishing. Casas is astonishing. I mean - he his preternaturally intelligent about hitting, and a post playing coaching career seems inevitable. What a goddamn delight.

The single best thing he says to the ump when discussing his yelling out pitch locations: "feel free to disagree."

I have a new favorite player. I’ve never seen a young player with such deep consideration about his craft. Impressive.

I mean this in the best way possible but this reads like the Seinfeld episode where George goes abstinent and it turns him into a genius who uses physics to hit home runs.

I remember that. I saw the vid, but was it originally live? That's what I meant. Like the ESPN heads were talking to Harris on the Braves the other night during the game.

ESPN talked to him that way on Mother's Day. & asked him about his dead mother. I was not happy.

This is incredible stuff. He got painted as a flake when he first came up but he's the furthest thing from it.

Just seeing this....Wow!

Like many of you I've been following and anticipating this kid all through the minors. I'm of course really enjoying his production, and getting to see more of his character is awesome. What a well spoken thoughtful young man. Hard to believe he's only 23. His parents must be proud of the person he is, never mind the baseball abilities he possess.

I've been tentative about wanting to extend him, preferring to wait a little longer than most here like...but damn...if this is who he is as a person. Sign this kid now. He needs to be a Red Sox for life.

Well if "flake" = non-normal ball player in which almost every nickname is the first syllable of the player's last name + "y", e.g. Tito's best friend "Marshy", then I'm very glad he's a flake. Thoughful and articulate play very well with a writer such as Dave Lauria (didn't he used to contribute here?) but less so with some of the Sox daily scribes.

It sounds as though he's completely embraced Ted's "Science of Hitting". Did I read somewhere that his dad gave it to him and he's read it several times?

Just echoing how great that interview was but also wanted to say I can understand how he could get caught up in his thoughts and go into slumps, like he did earlier this year. Dude is thinking about a lot and while he says he tries to not think in the box, I could definitely see him struggle with that. I imagine as he gets more ABs and more comfortable with his approach, that will happen less and less.

I love me some Tristan Casas. Even if I can't spell his name.
