Top five in penalties won’t get you far. Even if you don’t like the calls, the reality is the reality. The league must really hate the Jacobs’…woof

They've been bailed out by goaltending all year. Team D and overall care with the puck hasn't been there in a bunch of the W / OTLs. Didn't get the bounces this time around

With Gryz sidelined, they are terrible at getting the puck out of the zone. Lindholm has not looked great, IMHO.

Lindholm looked straight up bad, to my eye today. But I also didn't watch the third period, so I don't know if it got better or worse.

Do the advanced stats indicate this, because I don’t see how a team with 2 regulation losses in 19 games can be terrible at getting the puck out of the zone.

Before today, their actual goals against was 23, while their expected goals against (according to MoneyPuck) was 46% higher, at 33.67.

Can you see it now?

Edit: Their corsi is 20th in the league at 48.44%. Their goalies have been playing out of their minds.

How does that correlate specifically to being terrible at clearing the puck? Because to my untrained eye, they seem to be above average at it compared to the rest of league. I would argue that’s it more of a function of getting merely very good goaltending over the last few games than the other worldly goaltending that they got over the first 14 or so games. But hey, I’m just a fan that watches a lot of games around the league.

It doesn’t. But your question was how a team terrible at clearing the puck could possibly only have two regulation losses. I gave you the answer. Now you have a new question.

Just say that you disagree instead of being cute about what advanced stats might show.

I wasn’t “being cute” about anything. I’m not well versed on hockey advanced metrics and I was asking a serious question.

It was based on what I see every night around the league, and that’s teams that are way worse than the Bruins at getting pucks out of the zone.

Because if they are terrible at clearing the puck, and they’re dependent Grzcelyk’s health to not be terrible at clearing the puck, then they need to figure out a move soon in case he gets hurt again in the playoffs.

I think that it’s possible that I might have exaggerated in the game thread. ;)
