Or did I speak too soon- Leeds has it back to 2-3.

Brentford and Fulham at 1-1, Wednesday and Ipswich at 0-0.

Reading, Balckburn, and Brum all up 1-0.

And good news for @bsj as QPR up 2-0 against forest.

And Leeds all the way back to 3-3. Showing some real spine. Think they need another or for Brentford to nick one.

And the playoffs are set (barring a Leeds win, Fulham loss, and 14 goals of GD).

Fulham will finish 6th, and Wednesday, Reading, and Huddersfield can finish in any order of 3-5.

Down the bottom end Forest is tied with Blackburn for the last relegation spot but ahead on GD by one. Birmingham City is 2 points ahead but with a much worse GD.

Still games that matter next weekend.

Big news for you guys whose clubs aren't going up this year: a subscription service for non-UK residents that will stream all Championship, League One, and League Two matches except for the odd game that's broadcast on BeIn or whatever.

The English Football League is launching a streaming broadcast service targeted at overseas fans of Championship and lower league clubs.

International fans of English clubs outside the Premier League will from next season be able to subscribe to a service which will stream all games not distributed to overseas television broadcasters.

This is great. I received an email from the club saying that they were transitioning out of the radio stream service they currently provided. I was not expecting this big of an improvement.

Looking online, it seems the service will cost about $140. A price I am more than happy to pay.

Edit: Damnit. Derby County, Aston Villa, and Leeds have opted out of the service. They will be going their own route.

I got a survey about this a while ago from some connected expats, so I wasn't shocked when this was announced at a Wednesday Steering Group meeting last month. I didn't realize it was going to be a whole bunch of clubs, including lower leagues. This is an absolute game changer for fans of lower division sides, especially League One and Two who get maybe 1 game a year on TV. My wife is going to be bullshit though.

Hopefully I can just watch Wednesday on NBCSports instead though.

Strange that Leeds/Villa/Derby are opting out, but I'd guess they'll have a similar (more expensive) service.

Crazy finish today, glad NUFC are champs. Villa did us a good one, they played their asses off. Feel a bit for Brighton, it's a wondrous story and they deserved to win to after their good season. But then again, another soft penalty with the Championship officiating, they give penalties out like Chicklets so the result today seems fair.

Former European champion Nottingham Forest edges out former Premier League champion Blackburn Rovers on goal differential to avoid dropping into League One.

Blackburn was already the first former Premier League champion to be relegated, now they are the first to fall into the 3rd tier.

Blackburn, Forest, and Birmingham all won, so Rovers join Wigan and Rotherham going down.

Reading finishes 3rd, Wednesday 4th, Huddersfield 5th, Fulham 6th.

Wednesday swept Huddersfield this season and rested everyone today (except Kieran Lee who is fresh off 5 months out with injury), so I'm feeling pretty confident about going to Wembley again. I'd guess we'll see Fulham there, and I like the matchup from a style perspective.Confidence is a strange feeling for Wednesday fans though- doesn't quite feel right.

Huddersfield and Fulham fascinate me. Huddersfield haven't been good the last month, but it's miraculous that they are 5th with -2 GD; 12 teams have better GD. Fulham are 3rd GD (+28) and have been on fire since like February. I think Fulham and Wednesday meet (so of course watch Reading win it)

I think Udders just aren't that talented. Mooy is a stud, I like both Wells and Brown up front, and their FB are both quality, but they were successful this year because of their style, which caught a lot of people off guard. I think as the season wore on, they got found out a bit. We'll see.

Their starting GK got sent off today- not totally sure how that effects his status for the playoffs.

Reading is bananas...they've basically broken the expected goals model and had the most PK in the league. They are often boring as fuck and horrifically effective- I wouldn't be stunned if they can tie Fulham up in knots. I think Fulham is just a better team though, especially over two legs.

Sorry I've been lurking in this thread and not posting much since the fall. Reading has had the season their GD suggests. They are nails at home and fails on the road. Over two legs, against a team with Fulham's firepower, I am not optimistic; but I was worried they might go down at the beginning of the season so I'll go with my heart and say 1-1 at Craven Cottage and 2-0 at the Mad Stad to advance to Wembley. In addition here is a totem I keep on my work PC from their last road opener in the Prem. It looked so good at the half. :) Good luck to all of us.

I tell you what- I think I'd rather play Fulham than Reading if Wednesday are fortunate enough to advance. Fulham has the best record in the league since November, but to me it's a matchup matter.
Wednesday really excel on the counter, and Fulham can be real open at the back with their high line. With Hutchinson in front of a great CB pairing and MF that track back well (to say nothing of Westwood who I think is PL quality), Wednesday are tough to score on, especially on the road where they really close up shop. Reading will force Wednesday to open up in order to break them down, and if Reading sneak one (as they did early at Hillsborough), the game is done.

From your lips to God's ears DH :) Best of luck against Huddersfield and here's to hoping our clubs meet between the twin towers in the richest game in the world.

Reading at Fulham, 12:30 on Saturday. Sky sports will carry it but I think BeIN is pushing it down the ladder so streams may be the way to go. Wednesday at Huddersfield 7 am on Sunday, same scenario with the television.
Should be some really compelling football- 4 very different styles, 4 non-english managers. Potentially all of them could leave after this season, especially if their squads don't go up.

Reading does what they do, stalling Fulham and coming away from the away leg with a 1-1 draw. Reading got what I thought was a weak red card in the 80th minute but held on despite Fulham's inability to remain on their anywhere within 30 yards of the Reading goal.

Big result for the R's!!! That McShane red was a terrible call. Yellow? sure but straight red? If they don't cut that down the center of Reading's D will be compromised for the home leg and I guess potentially Wembley. Return leg should be fun as Fulham will have to come forward and Reading can use their counter while getting roared on by the home crowd. Good luck tomorrow DH!

Yeah, watching the highlights, I didn't think it quite deserved a straight red, but the announcers were stone-cold certain about its justice. He did kind of follow through, studs-to-shin, but I didn't see much malice in it.

I thought McShane was thrown off balance by the Fulham player grappling with him and the leg came up because he went down. I thought the foul was on Fulham at a live watching.

The announcers, like most of the southern based football media, have been blowing Fulham for the last 6 weeks, and yesterday's game was no exception. I heard some absurd descriptions that could only be made with a narrative in place. Have any people mentioned that Reading is actually the form team over the last 10 games? I get that Fulham is fun to watch (and they are), but they're being played up like 03-04 Arsenal.

Hooper and Hutchinson both out for Wednesday...Bazza in the holding role which makes me a bit nervous. I wanted someone ON Mooy. Fuck me I'm nervy right now.

0-0 draw.

Not the most exciting game but Wednesday put on a defensive clinic. Huddersfield probably should have snuck one, as Wednesday were brutal in possession, with several bad turnovers in their own half. They really didn't give Huddersfield too many good looks though, and now the Terriers have to come to a packed Hillsborough on Wednesday night. Going to be an amazing atmosphere, and hopefully a more proactive game from Wednesday.

I didn't watch it but everything I've read says Wednesday did what they needed to do much like Reading (minus the red...) Hopefully both home crowds spell the difference in the return leg.

Same problems we've had for much of the season - this pressing style can make us look like Barcelona at times, but only if you ignore what's happening in the final third. So if you had the match on in the background we probably looked dominant, but there were really only a couple of half chances. Wednesday were also the best and most organized defensive team we saw throughout all three meetings so far and definitely deserve their stellar defensive record.

On the other hand, this style works better against an opposition that's looking to attack, and while except for the opening moments of the second half Wednesday seemed content to take a draw home, I can't imagine they'll defend and counter for 90 minutes at home. This was the first 0-0 match played under Wagner, and I suspect tonight will be pretty wide open from both teams.

I was wondering if you were lurking around this thread.

I watched the game again last night and it really was a defensive clinic by Wednesday, couple of small mistakes that your lot was unable to capitalize on aside.

I would expect us to be far more open at home, our manager changes tactics quite often to suit the situation. We have a ton of options up front, and I'm not sure what combination Carlos will go with. Missing Hutchinson and Hooper takes away one of our most effective formations (With hutch sitting in front of the back four, allowing for a back 3 when going forward and Hooper holding up and linking the MF to the front line). We could see Dave Jones in the Hutch role, but Carlos loves Bannan, so I'd be a bit surprised.

Good luck. I'm shitting my pants nervous and getting nothing done at work.

Jones has been impressive every time I see him play, so I don't think you'd miss much with him. I'm still scared of Rhodes if he comes on late, and of course hoping that the wet weather won't mean Forestieri has trouble keeping his footing as he has on several occasions against us in the past...

Good luck - I never thought we'd be even close to this position, and the winner would seem to have a really decent shot to beat Reading. Even if we get hammered tonight, two matches away from the Premier League is a position I didn't thing I'd ever see us in, and there are a lot of clubs I'd be much unhappier to see promoted.

Fernando will have trouble staying on his feet regardless. He gets beat up pretty good sometimes, but he is an Italian raised in Argentina, he can't help it.

I think we may see Rhodes start, but having him and Forestieri on the bench as 65th minute subs is pretty sweet. Either way I hope Rhodes gets a chance to respectfully non-celebrate against his old club.

edit: What are you expecting to see from Wagner? He has seemed to stay pretty much the same most of the year tactically, and you guys don't really have the depth to make too many changes. Plus, if you do make changes, Ross Wallace will sniff them out.

If you guys pull it out, I'll probably have to root for you...Yorkshire club and I think going up is your only real shot to keep Wagner and then maybe buy Mooy too.

Wagner's good at making some subtle adjustments, but for the most part what you've seen from us all season is probably what you'll see tonight, at least if we play well. I'd like to see Ward back for Coleman, because his distribution is a lot better (and that really slowed us down on Sunday a couple of times when we started to get some momentum). But the advantage of getting some rest in the last few matches should be that everybody is fresh enough. I'm also hoping that a heavy pitch and the short break from an intense match Sunday will mean our fitness shows through.

What do you expect from the home side? I think if they continue to defend solidly and counter, they probably win -- as much possession as we had on Sunday, it was rarely in dangerous areas and we never really looked like scoring, and there's too much attacking talent for us to hold you scoreless twice. On the other hand, I'm not sure it's so easy to concede that much possession at home without the fans getting restless, so I'm hoping some gaps open up. I'm encouraged that the last few teams to win at Hillsborough have a similar pressing/possession style to ours.

One thing you might not have seen much from us is that our centre backs, particularly Hefele, actually play a bit of target forward as well when we're chasing the match. This means often we end up substituting defenders when behind and attackers when ahead.

On the plus side, if it goes to penalties, half our team is German...

I've seen your CBs switch up, it's effective at times.

We'll have more possession this game, no doubt. I don't know if we'll try to attack wide with the fullbacks overlapping or try to move through the middle with Lee helping link up with Hooper or Rhodes perhaps...I think a lot will depend on who is available to play CM. You'll definitely see Wednesday try to hit it long to a hold up man (Fletch or maybe Rhodes) to build a quick attack- Westwood likes to do this a lot.

Carvalhal has spent two years doing things I don't expect, and it's hard to argue with the results. Wednesday is tough to beat at home and the atmosphere will be as good as you'll find in the country. The teams that have beat us at home this season (Brighton nonsense excluded) have been teams who shut up shop and sneak an early goal (Fulham wasn't a real game). The key for you will be shutting down the number 10/8 player...whoever is moving that ball from midfield to the forwards. If you do that and keep our wide players occupied, it's going to take a garbage goal or a thunderbastard from Wallace for us to score.

I couldn't handle penalties. Funny enough, I watched you guys beat United in 2012 at the Phoenix Landing with LTF. That game kind of sucked (as League One often does), but that shootout was amazing.

That looked a lot like a penalty to me. A stupid penalty to concede if he's moving away from goal, but definitely a foul.

On Westwood? No chance.

Solid first half. Two good teams cautiously probing the other's defense. Nice job by Town to keep it tight in the back...that combined with the German press makes it tough.

I thought we looked better by the end of 90 minutes, then Wednesday looked like the only possible winners in extra time, and penalties...two lotteries won in 24 hours.

You'll be back, and I think Fulham will as well. This is probably our only shot given the budget, and somehow we're one match away. It's not that long ago we were in League Two, and it's also not that long ago that we were about 5 minutes away from relegation. I don't think we're favorites in the final by any means, but we're probably one or two fluky plays away from something that would permanently change the club (Hoyle's the type to take that sort of windfall and invest it rather than spending wildly to try and survive, kind of like West Brom did so successfully).

I'm not really ready to think ahead yet, but I'm tempted to travel to London. Anybody else around?

wow, what a heartbreaking way to lose at home. You're a good sport, DH.

In terms of goal differential, the Championship teams going up will be #1, #2... and either #8 or #13.

Who is a fan of Nottingham?
They were bought by greek freak.
His name isn´t Antetokounmpo, sadly, he´s Evangelos Marinakis, president of Olympiacos. He was accused of match fixing (2015) without being convicted to anything. And he was accused of bombing a bakery of a referee.
That´s a vita.

So is that good or bad for the future of Forest?
(I love the green/yellow away kits. Maybe I´ll finally buy one someday.)
