The Wolves are 6-2 in their last 8 games which coincides with LaVine playing less of a role in the offense with Towns and Mohammed getting more touches. They won the 2 games he missed and in the other 6 games, he has averaged 9.8 FGA and 9.6ppg while still playing 34.2mpg. Wiggins during that time is averaging less PPG and shots as well. It may bare (bear?) worth watching as trading one of LaVine/Wiggins for a more defensive orientated player makes sense. He's also coming off an injury but he appears to be over it.

Kat's last 8: .636/.375/.850, 27.3 ppg, 13.1rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.1spg, 2.0 bpg in 39 mpg.
Muhammad's: .545/.550/.813, 12.0 ppg, 3.4.rpg in 23.3mpg

S
Sixers beat the Clippers... Down 19 in the third go on a 62-32 run the rest of the way.
Embiid and Okafor out...
Sixers beat MIL tonight and Bulls lose to Hawks - is my math correct and the 76ers are only 4 games out of a playoff spot?

CLE-PHI in the first round would be appointment TV.

Warriors now at 132 straight regular-season games without consecutive losses ... barely. Pesky Hornets make their lives difficult; Kerr goes to Death Lineup 2.0 (which he's kept mostly sheathed this season) and they respond with a late 22-7 run to close it out, 113-103.

On Philly: if Brett Brown wins his next 1,300 games straight, he'll have the same career winning % as Steve Kerr (.851). ;)

Seriously, I'm really happy for Brown and the Sixers. I actually think Kerr and Brown have pretty similar styles, in the way they instill fundamentals on both ends while also trying to keep it joyful and fun. I was always impressed at how Brown managed to stay positive, even at the nadir of the "process."

This is a completely meaningless statistic since they lost 3 consecutive games in the Finals last year.

Haha, yeah, it definitely takes some of the shine off. Worth noting that if we're counting playoffs, it was actually OKC who snapped the streak, not Cleveland.

Still, going more than a season and a half without dropping two straight *regular season* games -- given injuries, long cross-country flights, B2Bs, etc. -- is a very impressive feat.

So things in Chicago are going well...

Here's Rondo after Butler and Rose called out the rest of the team yesterday:

Pretty understandable, although as a Knicks fan, I would trade the remnants of Rose for the remnants of Wade in a second.

millsap beats out Embiid for the all star reserve spot. Shrug. Embiid is young, exciting and more impactful but whatever.
Totally agree, but Part of me subscribes to the zach Lowe thinking of you gotta reward the guy who is having the better year this season and forget how much more fun a certain player would be over another. But yes embiid in the all star game would rock.

But
Millsap 18pts, 1block, 3.8 assists, 8.1 rebounds,. 536 true shooting % 34 mins a game. 5.2 fta a game.

Embiid
19.5 pts, 2.5 blocks, 2.1 assists, 7.8 rebounds, 0.58% true shooting. 25.3 mins a game. 7.9 fta a game.

So on less minutes, better stats. Not per 36 just period.

You also missed one: 43 games to 30. Millsap has played nearly twice as many total minutes as Embiid. Embiid is terrific, but I can't see how you send a guy to the all star game over a player putting up similar stats in twice as many minutes.

What about sending Embiid over Kemba? Sure he's had a great year and made another leap but would anyone really have been upset if the EC's 5th best PG didn't make the game?

I can. It's an exhibition game for the fans. Embiid is a lot more exciting than Millsap and will make for a more entertaining game.

I know that being selected as a starter can have a direct impact on max contracts for rookie contract guys. Does being selected as a reserve have any impact on financials?

I'm not upset for his health etc that he's not selected, although he will likely play the rising star game so. In which case I'd rather he got the love.

I'm sure he's delighted he got in by the fan vote though. Pretty cool for him. It's really not important, I just think sometimes they forget what the goal is

ATL/NY heading into the 4th OT tied at 130, still not especially worth watching.

They said it was only the 11th 4 OT game in league history, that's a little surprising.

Anyone else watching Orlando blow a double digit lead with three minutes to go at Toronto? If Elfrid Payton were PG for my favorite team I would go crazy.

I've watched the Celtics play a lot of bad basketball over the years and it was fine but watching them play the magic the other day, MAN, if I was a Magic fan I do not think I could watch that team.

Definitely. If you're Toronto you have to be kicking yourself. Flailing recently (lost six of their last 10). This is a game you look at on the calendar as a slump buster. Only 3.5 behind Cleveland now!

Somewhat related - but man, is there anyone that likes nba.com site? It is such a shit show to navigate and there are 30 second commercials everywhere.

I actually think the site is pretty damn good in terms of getting game recaps and they have a pretty good stats area. Of course, I use an ad blocker which works well on that domain.

NBA players currently averaging better than 24 pts per 36 minutes on > .650 true shooting (min. 300 minutes played): Kevin Durant, JaVale McGee

If you lower the ts% requirement to .630: Kevin Durant, JaVale McGee, Steph Curry

If you lower the ts% requirement to .600: Kevin Durant, JaVale McGee, Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Isaiah Thomas, Enes Kanter, LeBron James

Love doesn't play for Cleveland and they lose to Dallas, who were led by Harrison Barnes, Wes Matthews and Yogi Ferrell. Something is happening there; they'll figure it out by playoff time but maybe they are not as unassailable as originally believed.

Can we move the Spurs to the Eastern Conference just in case? I think the Warriors are near locks for the title this year.

Love's back may prove to be the opening that allows Toronto or Boston to take their shot at the Warriors. I agree with BSF - if the Warriors stay healthy, they are going to destroy just about anyone. And LeBron leading the league in minutes played at this point in the season is just insane given his age.
