I am loving the Michael Beasley resurrection. This only happens in the NBA.
This whole Knicks team is guys finding their way to a second act. Kanter I thought for sure was going to find himself at the very back of someone's bench, and here he is averaging a double double. And Courtney Lee is kicking ass.

They are a fun group. Love me some Jarret Jack too. Quintessential crafty NBA ball handler.

I am excited to see the cavs with IT. He's got a special seat on the bench, either injury related or because hes awesome.
Me too. I dislike the Cavs for obvious reasons (mostly Wade related) but I want to see IT3 ball out.

I am also happy to see Crowder playing well.

McCaw!!!

Really like Bell for GS. He is what Marquese Chriss should be. Active all the time.
He has been fantastic. That said, he could not be in a more ideal situation in terms of coaching, usage and veteran guidance whereas Chriss has almost none of those things.

No wonder why he gets so many 'blocks'.
I'd guess having a 9'-2" standing reach and being absurdly coordinated for his size is a factor, too. But yeah, obvious foul (x2) on that play. Then again, you kind of expect the refs to swallow their whistles in those situations.

He's a top-2 player with freakish talent for sure, but if LeBron of all people isn't getting that call, then what are regular players getting

This is a terrific game between Houston and OKC. No Paul for Houston but OKC’s offense looks better as far as their ball movement is concerned and they are doing better at getting out in transition.

Harden got buckets tonight but struggled from the field largely due to Roberson who appears to have stepped up his defense from an already high level.

As a side note, having the TNT crew announce games is genius. It's like watching a game with friends - they are shitting all over guys and generally saying what they think.

The NBA is great in that they seem to tolerate general criticism from it's national announcers like these guys or Van Gundy (even if his shtick can get tiresome).

Mavs beat the Raptors. 2 wins in one game.
It was in Dallas but still impressive, especially since Harrison Barnes awkwardly fumbled the ball to the Raptors with ~ minute left and the Mavs up by three. Toronto couldn't convert, however, and J.J. Barea hit a dagger reverse toward the end.

As a side note, I wonder if he or Wes Matthews will be on the block as the trade deadline looms. Barea costs very little for next year whereas Matthews has a pretty hefty ~$18mm due him next year (a huge amount for any player but especially for him given his production). That said, either would fortify a contender's bench and would likely cost much less in terms of players/picks than some of the bigger names that might be available in the next month.

If the Celtics were willing to spend their entire DPE on Wes Matthews, the Mavs and Wes would be wise to negotiate a heavily discounted buy-out.

I don't love Matthews for anyone who might acquire him but the reality is that he will come a lot more cheaply than some other players. Williams comes with Bird rights and he is having a great season so its safe to assume that teams in his market are going to pay up for him. Matthews isn't really a runner-up prize but he is a wing who can shoot a decent clip from deep so he has a role for teams in the market to bolster their rotation. But yeah, that contract is a poison pill of sorts...

whoa, Kris Dunn looks like a completely different player this year, really impressive PC fans.

DeJesus, don't think anyone would pay/trade for Wes Matthews contract, he'd have to be a free agent pick (post-buyout). After 58 games last season with the Lakers, Lou Williams cost the Rockets their 1st rounder + Corey Brewer, do the Celtics write that check?

You are correct about Matthews realistically only being available via a buyout (whether the Mavs would agree is a different story).

I don't see the Celtics trading a first round pick for anyone not named Davis who might be available.

The other factor at play here is that some teams who might be shoppers at the deadline such as OKC or Toronto both traded their 2018 first round picks (protected 1-14 in each case). That may dampen the price for acquiring talent at the deadline. Furthermore, how much do teams want to leverage their assets to try and hang in a series with Golden State or Cleveland?

Tobias Harris has become just deadly offensively this year. 30 points tonight on 10-11 from the floor, 7-8 from three. Now shooting 45% from three on 6+ attempts per game.

Wild end to the Suns/Grizz game last night. Tied 97-97 with 0.6 second left and the Suns inbounding, Bender threw a lob to Tyson Chandler for a game winning alley-oop. The wrinkle is that the play would have been offensive goaltending if the pass had come from an in-bounds player on the court since Chandler clearly touches the ball over the cylinder, but because the inbounds pass can't legally go in for a basket, the ball can't be goaltended:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21888791/phoenix-suns-use-bounds-alley-oop-sink-memphis-grizzlies-final-second

"I was trying to create a play where you could score with like three-tenths of a second or something, and I thought tonight was a good time to do it," Suns interim coach Jay Triano said. "I put it on about two or three days after I took over the job here, and it's a rule that a lot of people don't know. You cannot goaltend a ball that isn't going to count, so I told our guys, 'Shoot the ball in the basket, and all Tyson has to do is touch it on the way down or grab the rim and have it hit your knuckle on the way in.' I asked the officials when they come and do their clinics and seminars with the coaches, I asked them that 15 years ago when I was in Toronto. I asked them about it, and they had to go back and look at it, and I've tried to keep it a secret, and it's not a secret anymore."

Wonder what the Magic would be like if they had managed to keep together and develop Harris + Gordon + Oladipo, with other pieces such as Payton, Vucevic, O'Quinn, Dedmon, and Fournier? Andrew Nicholson was on that 2014-15 Magic team too.
