My son (11 years old, Jags fan) is still absolutely ripshit over this pick, for precisely this reason.

Khan erred in retaining Caldwell, but lighting a fire under him by hiring Coughlin -- either give the guy a vote of confidence or replace him. This pick positively screams "win now" -- which might not be so bad if I thought it would work, but it won't.

On the plus side, I do think Fournette is better than Richardson (and also Yeldon and Ivory), so this could be less than a disaster, even if I'm right that it's a mistake.
You are right he will likely be better but way too much capital invested in RB there. They saw Zeke last year and wanted to copy it

But zero offensive players to speak of.
I like Coleman and both their RBs. But it's a rebuild, and I like the way they're doing it. I don't think any QB they passed on seem like a can't miss franchise guy, and reaching for a QB to stick in an offense that can't protect the QB or get more than 1 WR open isn't a recipe for good development.

#Browns now have plenty of ammo to trade for #Patriots QB Garoppolo. Have the 25th this year, 2 first-rounders next year and three 2's in 18
Isn't the problem with this theory that they also had number 12 but that didn't get it done.

Number 12 was worth 25 and Texan's next year pick. If the Patriots wanted those things, or Cleveland wanted to give them, they could have just given 12.
