There is a rumor going around on social media that Perry fucked Connor Bedard's mom, but then another reporter said that flat-out wasn't true. So I have no idea what's going on. The wording is similar to that the Stars gave when they fired Monty for his alcoholism. FWIW.

Alcoholism might be part of it but if it was just that, he'd probably just go off to the player assistance program.

right here
It's so very Chicago that the guy they brought in to "mentor" the youth is being dumped after 20 games for conduct unbecoming. Rotten from the top.

Between here and everywhere.
And their statement does literally nothing to dispel the rumors that have been running rampant the last 24 hours.

Just a shit organization, through and through.

Not being transparent right away when there is already public mistrust of your organization from the Beach scandal leaves room for speculation and wild rumors.

I realize there are privacy and legal reasons as to why they can't say what Perry did but it also feels like a smart PR team could craft some sort of language that dispel's the rumor without crossing any of the privacy and legal lines.

They did exactly that during the press conference, FWIW

I'm guessing he showed up drunk to practice or a team function.
I’ve heard it was a team event the night before the game and sponsors/employees were there and he went off verbally. Not sure on who.

Coyotes in their last 4 games have beaten Vegas, Tampa, Colorado, and St. Louis.

First time a team has beaten the last four Stanley cup champs in consecutive games. Pretty hard record to match — it has to be pretty unusual to play the four most recent champs in a row, let alone beat them.

But wait …. Yotes play the Blackhawks next.

I can't believe Jacques Martin is still coaching in the NHL. Well, in Ottawa, anyway.

So Ryan Hartman got fined like $4,000 for high sticking Cole Perfetti. Play bellow:

Where it gets interesting is Hartman told Perfetti he was going to do it as retribution for an earlier Brendan Dillon/Kaprizov incident. Perfetti was mic'd up so it's all on tape. Apparently as part of the NHL/NHLPA agreeemnt for players to be mic'd up, DoPS can't use the audio against Hartman.

Couldn't they ask Perfetti what happened? Dont they regularly ask the other player if anything led up to the incident in question?

Rumor has it that the Leafs are close to signing Nylander to a Pasta-like extension of $11M+/yr
The core-four (Matthews. Tavares, Nylander, Marner) are eating up 48% of the Leaf's cap space this year.
Matthew's new contract kicks in next year as well.

Even with an increase in cap space next year of $4M+, those guys would be using something like 53% of the Leaf's cap space.
Unless a team has an abundance of talented young players to offset the cost, it doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

Tavares will be on his last year of his contract, so they will only be in that situation for one season. I don’t see them extending him for big money as a 35 year old. Marner is also expiring but assuming he gets extended at Matthew’s number ($13.25, a $2.3 million raise in AAV), their salary cap will be pretty much how it is now for 2025-2026. Either way, they better get good at developing young defenseman and goalies.

I think they'll be OK. They've got around $55 million to work with this offseason. After Nylander, they'll have about $43 million left and the heavy lifting is basically re-sign or replacing Brodie/Bertuzzi/Domi/Giordano/Backup G which can be accomplished. The RFA work is Lilejgren, Benoit, Robertson who won't cost much either. Additionally Tavares comes off after next season. He'll be entering his 35 year old season so even if they re-sign him the cap hit will dip. Marner comes off too and re-signing him probably comes in at a higher number than his current one ($10.9 million) but it won't be by much and will be offset to some degree but Tavares.

Odd as it sounds, the Leafs are probably lucky that they don't have any "future star" or at least "very good" RFAs coming due next season (Lilejgren maybe?).
I think they'd be hard pressed to match any offer sheets from teams willing to do so (as uncommon as that is these days).

Blackhawks placing Connor Bedard on IR with a fractured jaw, and Foligno with a broken finger, no timeline yet for either.
I saw the hit multiple times and it looked like a clean shoulder to his chest but he must have taken a helmet to the jaw. He is an exciting player. And Uncle Nick broke a finger defending him.

Thought it was more the forearm of the guy as Bedard was angled forward. Don’t think it was dirty though. Just one of those right height, right lean, and bad outcome.
