Ken Rosenthal put out a bit of a rumor roundup for The Atlantic today. A bit of a summary:

Teams are asking about Bichette & Guerrero from the Blue Jays & Bregman from the Astros but he doesn't expect any of them to be traded. Otoh, with Soto it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of where.

More than a dozen teams have inquired about Cease, but the one Rosenthal focused on as "among the most aggressive" was the Dodgers.

& ummm...Giolito is a free agent to watch who could get anywhere from 2 to 5 years?

Any amount beneath Carroll is probably reasonable. This is the Brewers’ chance to keep a potential stud past six seasons (up to ten!)

The kid had an .803 OPS in AA this year and played 6 games at AAA. They must be really, really sure of their scouting department to make an $80 million bet on him.

Yeah an .803 OPS in AA at 19 years old is really, really impressive. He's going to be a stud.
Roman Anthony is 2 months younger than Chourio & had a 1.020 OPS in AA this year (in a massive 44 PA sample size).

Chourio is good. Deal would make sense for both sides. It's life changing $ for a guy who has made $1.9m in his career plus regular MiLB salaries. It would also allow him to be a free agent right in his prime, & the Brewers get more control & some good potential surplus value.

Would you want Breslow giving Anthony that kind of deal?

I would be fine with it next off season if he continues to progress, but I think he is one year too far away right now having barely reached AA. I'm definitely open to the concept next off season if the price makes sense, though.

I also think it's one of those things where you do the business you need to do, & then see how much room you have left to add more control/cost certainty on your young potential stars. Like if they spend to $255m this off season, I would love to see extensions for Casas &/or Bello that takes them to $265-$270m, but still gives them some room under the $277m threshold.

I know this was being discussed in the Yankees thread, but this Soto stuff has a Blue Jays slant to it, too.

The Blue Jays are one of several teams talking to the Padres about Soto, sources said. Soto, 25, would be an ideal fit for the Jays if they fail to land the game’s top free agent, Shohei Ohtani. And if the Padres wait, other teams that miss out on Ohtani could enter the fray.
Probably makes sense for the Padres to wait until after Ohtani decides if he's deciding anytime soon. Unless the Yankees just give them what they want, which they probably won't.

From the Blue Jays, the Padres could seek a package including one or more pitchers from a group that includes top prospect Ricky Tiedemann, Bowden Francis and Alek Manoah. The Jays, like other clubs, would be concerned about paying Soto $30 million-plus for one season, then likely losing him as a free agent. But they are under pressure to win.
& the article also mentions including a 3rd team like the Mariners to send pitching from the Mariners to the Padres & position players from the Soto team to the Mariners.

One possibility for the Padres, if they are unable to strike a satisfactory deal with a single trading partner, would be to involve a third club. The Mariners, for example, have desirable pitching, but might not want to part with it for only one year of Soto. Regular trading partners of the Padres, the Mariners could acquire longer-term offensive pieces from the team that lands Soto while sending pitching to San Diego.

The Blue Jays make sense for a one year run- if that team can’t win next year, I’d imagine they’d be close to blowing it up anyways. Springer and Gausman are in their mid 30s and it seems doubtful they can keep both of Bichette and Vlad. Would be high risk, high reward.

Keep in mind Heyman is predominantly a mouthpiece for agents (he carries a lot of water for Scott Boras, but Boras Corp is hardly the only agency whose ass his lips are semi-permanently affixed to). It's not impossible that multiple teams have already big $500M+, but I don't trust Heyman on this kind of thing.

Makes you wonder what the offers would have been if he hadn’t had TJ. I really hope the pressure of living up to this contract doesn’t impact him.
Probably about the same, I’d imagine. When there are a lot of teams interested in one player, rationality goes out the window.

She is incredibly reliable. I wonder if Judge('s camp) planted something to extract as much as he could from the Yanks, because as trashy as Heyman is he too is pretty reliable and that was a pretty big surprise he was wrong in that whole saga.

Agreed, Slusser's really top-notch.
